Re: According to our mate Nixon
To be honest, this stuffs gonna happen until Mee signs a new contract. Not ideal he’s holding off given he’s our captain but probably doesn’t want to commit given our league position either.

Both out of contract at end of season. You would imagine they'd double their wages.
Re: According to our mate Nixon
Sell them for as much as we can get. We need a rebuild and these ain’t going to be hanging around much longer anyway

Re: According to our mate Nixon
Tarks I can live with, but Mee makes his CB partners look better than they are with his leadership. Now I would be gutted if Ben went
Re: According to our mate Nixon
The reality is that our squad is ageing and overpaid. We are looking likely for the drop this season. With the parachute payments and what ever we can get for our in demand players we could rebuild with a younger fresher squad, and i include a manager in that aswell.

Re: According to our mate Nixon
I doubt either will go in January. Then again if Newcastle flash the cash in a desperate bid to stay up you never know. Double whammy..massively hurts us as a direct relegation rival and they have a pair of CBs who already know each other inside out. Mee could well be waiting to see the outcome of the season or at least seeing how it is looking before deciding. He won't want to be a Championship player again.
One thing is for certain. If we do go down we will lose both of them.

Re: According to our mate Nixon
Also saying Eddie wants Tripps as well. May as well chuck in a bid for Pope while they are at it - they have the money

Be very surprised if we sign anyone on contracts till our league position is known
Be interesting to see just how keen Newcastle are in January though, as there definitely would be a level that we'd sell at

Tarky has a 27.5% sell on...
Mee has a 40% sell on
Mee has a 40% sell on
Re: According to our mate Nixon
This smacks of Blackburn buying the wrong Shearer in 1992… they bought Duncan from Swindon which resulted in them replacing Swindon in the playoffs and they won promotion.
Newcastle only want them to make sure we go down, 1 less team for them to worry about.
Both Ben and James should note that Duncan was transferred after 6 games when his usefulness was gone.

Re: According to our mate Nixon
Sell both, release all players out of contract in the summer, new young coach.
and lets completely build again, a youthful exciting side to go and romp the Championship.
This squad is stale, dull, boring, limited, old, overpaid.
I'd be excited to see a full reset with a new manager and a new style. I'd consider Jokanovic, potted at Sheff United way too early, he always takes time and starts slow but when his Championship sides start motoring, they blow sides away. Off field issues at Sheff U too, with god knows who signing the players. Frank Lampard would make us media favourites, works well with young players and Chelsea connection could be great, I also thought he did very well at Chelsea in his first year.
Keep Taylor, Roberts, Collins, Pope, Cornet, Mcneil and the rest can go for me.
I think Bobby Thomas and Collins could be the partnership next year. More gametime for Richardson?

Not a hope in hell we keep those players listed above if we go down, unfortunately.
Probably only Collins would stay.

Re: According to our mate Nixon
Problem with this is…. I can’t see Taylor Cornet Pope or McNeil accepting or being with us in the championship. All will have suitors and all would want to go for the benefit of their careers and I’m convinced Pace abs co would gladly accept the cash for them.KRBFC wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 8:48 amSell both, release all players out of contract in the summer, new young coach.

I imagine our team will be something like this if we went down.
Peacock Farrell
Lowton, Collins, Thomas, Taylor
JBG, Cork, Westwood, Dodgeson
Richardson, Barnes

Re: According to our mate Nixon
I'd hope we won't be asset stripped to the point of playing Dodgeson left midfield, that side you named would be closer to the bottom of the Championship than the top.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 9:01 amI suspect that is very optimistic.

I really haven't a clue. Much like yourself.
Plus I don't think we will get relegated. I don't make daft reactions at the start of December

To be fair I think Dodgeson has looked quite promising for the youth team. His choice wasn’t one of desperation more I think he could do a good job for us in the championship. Similar to Tucker

Give him an attacking team and he would be fantastic. He’s hindered by our tacticsclaret2018 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 9:12 amWould anyone want McNeil? When was the last time he had a good game?
Re: According to our mate Nixon
No idea, people on here continually told me he's a £50m player when I said his value was more £25m. I just don't see a £50m player in there tbhclaret2018 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 9:12 amWould anyone want McNeil? When was the last time he had a good game?

Re: According to our mate Nixon
Both have contracts to honour. Both can leave in June if thats their wish. Simple, and I cannot see SD agreeing anything prior to June
Re: According to our mate Nixon
Another who could be an exciting option as a manger is Kjetil Knutsen (current manager of Norwegian side Bodo Glimt). His side plays 4-3-3 possession based football and he’s taken them to dominate the Norwegian league while having 75% of his side only signed from northern Norway through their youth system. Beat Roma 6-1 at home and 2-2 away this season.KRBFC wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 8:48 amSell both, release all players out of contract in the summer, new young coach.

Re: According to our mate Nixon
I wouldn't be happy if I was a Newcastle fan with all this supposed money and getting linked with Ben Mee.
As for our contract situation with him. We have probably offered him a wage cut as he's been around the top earners at the club and now shouldn't be guaranteed a spot with Collins here.

Re: According to our mate Nixon
Newcastle were rank bad yesterday, and we managed to be worse.
Newcastle don't need to buy Ben snd Tarky to relegate us, we are doing a great job of taking care of that ourselves.

If we go down we wouldn’t need a ‘reset.’
Pope, Roberts, Taylor, Collins, Mee, McNeil, brownhill, Westwood, Corny, Wood and Vydra
Look at that team. Wood and Vydra are both championship top scorers, a lot of the players are some of the best players in the championship when we signed them, and have improved since. We’d be fine.

We can't sell players who don't want to go in January. They will want to see out their contracts and then get what is best for themselves.
