Everton v Arsenal

Post by ecc » Mon Dec 06, 2021 7:50 pm

You never know what you're going to get with Arsenal but another defeat for Everton will hardly solidify Benitez's position (irrespective of the news concerning Brands).

Godfrey was incredibly lucky not to get a red card as well.

That seemed really harsh. They were both stood on the 18 yard line

That’s a really sh*t var decision. I thought these fine margin decisions were meant to go in favour of the attacker.

If Richarlison had cut his toe nails before the game, that goal would have stood !

VAR is killing the game’s passion with these disallowed goals. It’s bo//ocks.

When they’re that close I’d be interested in seeing a view between the assist players foot & ball as the margins are that tight it could easily have already left his foot.

As said above I’m not a fan but managers & players seem to be happy with the offside calls

Think this might be it for Max and Paddy. Everton playing like a team with the world against them. As a Burnley fan we’ve seen it many times, but do they have the grit?

Everton’s defence is they don’t have one. I think they are in serious trouble. Tells you how far Arsenal are away too.

Are you kidding? I fail to see the scenario where Everton’s fortunes have the remotest bearing on whether we stay up. There’s no way they are going to be any where near the bottom 3 come the end of the season.

I never had Everton as one of the teams involved no, 6 point gap to Southampton in 16th now though, so we seriously do need to put some wins on the board ASAP.

Fair play to Everton keeping their cool with all Arsenal play acting.
I would have two footed half their team long before they got back in the team.

There was obviously something slightly amiss when no other Premier League club showed any interest in signing him before he went to Germany.

Potentially yes. The crowd was hostile, never a sign that things are healthy within the club. The pressure from the stands is often the difference between success and failure… and Everton hasn’t been good.

Perhaps no, but it’s not a stretch to say they could be involved. It’s a real mess. Half the fans wanting Rafa gone, no money to spend as they are going to struggle with FFP potentially down the line. Loads of injury’s.

Brands has gone now too, guessing he’s getting the blame for their disjointed transfer policy, unlikely they can seriously re-enforce in Jan.

Sounds like Kenwright wanted Rafa gone and Moshiri is for keeping him.

With everyone fit however, they have enough to stay away from it. The evidence for that being the battering they gave us a few months back.

Can anyone clarify why Richarlison didn't get booked for celebrating in the crowd? I thought that was a yellow. Another example of refs just not enforcing the correct rules or have the rules changed to allow players to jeopardise supporters safety?

Im actually quite fun at parties but just asking because I had a £5 double on Xhaka and Richarlison to be booked and briefly thought I was a winner...

Watching that game you can see exactly why Arsenal fans want players like Lacazette, Partey and Aubameyang gone. What a seriously lazy trio when you aren't 2-0 up

I watched this game.

VAR would surely have stopped the first goal - offside - and possibly the second - maybe a push.

The first twenty minutes were awful - more or less head tennis - but Borehamwood were just physically stronger. However when St Albans played it on the ground they looked a threat. Right result in the end though.

It's a shame the winging Brazilian scored. However, Keane was the best player on the pitch and some say we had Evertons pants down with the fee we got for him.
He deserved to be on the winning side and what's this hype on Ben White all about.
His man he was allegedly marking scored the equaliser

Everton really improved 2nd half, they did a great job of cutting the Arsenal passing lines, and the likes of Xhaka and Paarty really struggled

But Arsenal missed two absolute sitters, one to go 2-1 up, and one to equalize 2-2

But it did show that working your socks off and having a quality player on his game (Ricarlison) you can win games at this level

Lots of hope for us, as long as we can get our team to fight like that on a regular basis

I was at the game and you have summed it up perfectly. Borehamwood sure ain't pretty but there is the possibility they will muscle their way into the EFL (I'm not implying they are dirty, they aren't) . Funny to see Nile Ranger come on and then waste a golden chance be seemingly tripping over his own feet.
