Newcatle after Tarkowski AND Mee
Re: Newcatle after Tarkowski AND Mee
Tarks to West Ham or Leicester in January, Ben Mee to stay and sign a new deal with BFC using some of the extra cash for Bens new contract by accepting Tarks is wanted by 3 clubs in January. So if that happens it wouldn't be the end of the world, nor would picking up 6 points in our next two games.

Re: Newcatle after Tarkowski AND Mee
Both can go for me at the end of the season. Not before though as safety is far more important than any cash at this moment in time. I really think Collins will be better than both tarks and mee he has impressed me that much. I’d be looking at a cb in jan if possible to bed in for their eventual departure and another cb in the summer as back up as Long just isn’t good enough.
Jan - cb, cm and a creative attacking player and I will be delighted.
Summer - cb, 2 x strikers as that needs a major overhaul and if we have anything else left, another cm.

West Spam now looking at a loan of Ake from City
They are desperate with Zouma maybe now out for a along time
Maybe we could get Noble as part of any deal - he fits our age profile

Re: Newcatle after Tarkowski AND Mee
Not seen it mentioned but if (and it's a big if) Newcastle are interested in Tarks and Mee then maybe Eddie learnt something from his relegation at Bournemouth which is a worrying thought!

Eddie went and watched Diego Simeone train the Athletico Madrid team during his time off

Re: Newcatle after Tarkowski AND Mee
This will be Mee's last chance at a big pay day, BUT he may be interested in something different if offered.
He's 32, he hasn't got many years left, so maybe he would be interested in signing a new 3 year deal with us and the chance to go into coaching towards the end of it.
I reckon he'd make a good defensive coach.

Does he want a chance of a huge final signing on fee?
Do we have an opening for another coach (over those already progressing through the system)?
Does Ben Mee fancy going into coaching or is he lining up work for the PFA after retirement?
Do we have room in the first team squad for Ben Mee 2years into his three year contract?

And are we likely to be in a position to give him a 3 year deal, probably he would be after an improvement on his current contract?elwaclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 5:00 pmWhile this is great in principle…

Re: Newcatle after Tarkowski AND Mee
Perfect timing for them - they’ll be fine with one centre half on Sunday.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 2:57 amKurt Zouma apparently out for up to 3 months at West Ham having got injured against Chelsea. Every chance of bids for Tarks from Newcastle and West Ham 1st Jan imho

Do you think? Personally I think it is just the kind of game that in the past has turned Burnley’s fortunes; while losing Cornet is a body blow, so few expect anything from us; historically all the signs are there that is when we win;I quite fancy us.

Dunno, but that's why I wondered if he was looking for something different.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 5:00 pmWhile this is great in principle…

He's been here a long time now, club captain etc he may not be overly interested in moving if we can come up with something suitable for him.

Re: Newcatle after Tarkowski AND Mee
I’m in no rush for Ben Mee to leave, would love him to stay on in some capacity. However he is active with the PFA so it would not surprise me at all to hear he wants to carry that forward…. May even serves us, insomuch if he’s already going down such a plan, moving for a last payday may not be front and centre in priorities. I just think, with a young family BM might fancy a couple of seasons winding down on serious money.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 7:06 pmDunno, but that's why I wondered if he was looking for something different.

I’m not putting anything on a Burnley win though I know where you’re coming from!elwaclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 7:04 pmDo you think? Here’s hoping that you’re right!!

Re: Newcatle after Tarkowski AND Mee
Ben might well move for more money, but he is seriously short of pace for a PL central defender. Other managers will not be as loyal as SD is to his captain. So he may secure more money but first team place ?-I am not so sureelwaclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 7:11 pmI’m in no rush for Ben Mee to leave, would love him to stay on in some capacity. Re: Newcatle after Tarkowski AND Mee
Agree, 100%. However, we are trying to get our age down and Ben Mee is 32. It We are trying to create a conveyer of replacement talent, the club may prefer to bring in the next generation in January to start getting ‘club ready’ for pre-season as well as give extra cover post Christmas. I hope he stays, but can see there are many reasons he may not.warksclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 7:44 pmBen might well move for more money, but he is seriously short of pace for a PL central defender. Re: Newcatle after Tarkowski AND Mee
If only we had done any succession planning in the transfer market in the last 3 years.

Re: Newcatle after Tarkowski AND Mee
we are being linked with Dael Fry again so it's probably lazy journalism. I've never been impressed with him although it's well over a year since I last saw him play. Neil Warnock called him the best CD in the Championship last week so he can't be that bad

Re: Newcatle after Tarkowski AND Mee
Had a certain record transfer not had a complete hissy fit we'd be saying "It's ok, Gibson and Collins will be ready to step up"
For a club of our size that's a reasonable succession plan but one personality failure torpedoes the whole thing.
Re: Newcatle after Tarkowski AND Mee
Good players don't want to waste their careers rotting on the bench for 3 seasons. I'd much rather have a player who wants to play rather than the Kevin Long attitude.CombatClaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 11:59 pmHad a certain record transfer not had a complete hissy fit we'd be saying "It's ok, Gibson and Collins will be ready to step up"

Re: Newcatle after Tarkowski AND Mee
I think our defenders know part of the reason they look good for us is down to the way we play. You only have to look at Keane to see it's very different playing for a team when you enter a lot more games as favourite.
Not that it matters, money talks.. but I do think our setup makes defenders and goalkeepers look good.

To be fair Warnock also said Sol Bamba was as good Van DijkVegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 11:34 pmwe are being linked with Dael Fry again so it's probably lazy journalism.
