Ashes test 1…..

Post by dandeclaret » Tue Dec 07, 2021 11:14 pm

Seemingly no Broad or Anderson.

Leach in instead.

No Broad? Saving him for the day nighters maybe.

Of course you could just select your best players - but that’ll never catch on

It might be a big plus if the other bowlers are performing better in the nets.

It might show the strength in depth?

We could have just written the game off as a draw due to the weather. If so, makes sense to save our strongest hand for games where they will likely make most impact.

Big call to bat first but marries in to the Leach selection. He could prove vital on day 4/5. Staying up till Root is in, probably be asleep by 12.06.

Christ on a bike, I thought I'd check the score before heading to bed, this is going to be a long winter at this rate.

Root gone now England might as well pack up and go home.

147 all out. What a surprise to wake up to. Why did we decide to bat first on a green wicket with overcast conditions expected? It’s going to be a long series.

Definitely not a surprise im afraid. i watched the first 2 hours. cloudy, greenish wicket, a little bit of swing, a lot of bounce. not enough skill in our batsmen to compete with the aussies unfortunately. the only surprise is that we batted first in those fairly English conditions.

I’d like it to get to Friday night so I can stay up and watch some cricket, with England weak batting I’m amazed he’s left his two best bowlers out, surely one has to play
