Ashes test 1…..
Seemingly no Broad or Anderson.
Leach in instead.

No Broad? Saving him for the day nighters maybe.
Of course you could just select your best players - but that’ll never catch on

It might be a big plus if the other bowlers are performing better in the nets.
It might show the strength in depth?

We could have just written the game off as a draw due to the weather. If so, makes sense to save our strongest hand for games where they will likely make most impact.SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 11:18 pmNo Broad? Saving him for the day nighters maybe.

Big call to bat first but marries in to the Leach selection. He could prove vital on day 4/5. Staying up till Root is in, probably be asleep by 12.06.

Christ on a bike, I thought I'd check the score before heading to bed, this is going to be a long winter at this rate.
Root gone now England might as well pack up and go home.

All morning I've had people coming into the office, ringing me up, sending texts asking if I've seen the cricket score. Even the CEO, who doesn't know the first thing about cricket is now taking the p... It's not good living in Australia when they are doing well against us.
Re: Ashes test 1…..
147 all out. What a surprise to wake up to. Why did we decide to bat first on a green wicket with overcast conditions expected? It’s going to be a long series.

Re: Ashes test 1…..
Definitely not a surprise im afraid. i watched the first 2 hours. cloudy, greenish wicket, a little bit of swing, a lot of bounce. not enough skill in our batsmen to compete with the aussies unfortunately. the only surprise is that we batted first in those fairly English conditions.

Zero surprise this morning, as usual I woke up every few hours and was checking the score. My phone had 7 bbc sport notifications and I just knew there was only one team that would have collapsed

No surprise given the total lack of preparation yet again for a big test series.

Kept waking up during the night but resisted the urge to check the score. Can't say I was surprised when I looked this morning.

I’d like it to get to Friday night so I can stay up and watch some cricket, with England weak batting I’m amazed he’s left his two best bowlers out, surely one has to play
