How confident are you about us staying up?
How confident are you about us staying up?
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 = no confidence at all and !0 = Supremely confident
There's still along way to go I know but just curious as to what everyone
really does feel at this present moment in time.
Personally I couldn't go much higher than a 3 which suggests that we could well go down.
A 5 or above would suggest we will stay up.

I'm about as confident as I was walking off the Turf having lost 5-1 to Everton.

Shaky tbh.
I'm currenlty 60-40 in confident in our favour but if we lose the next game it'll be down to 50-50 at best.

Re: How confident are you about us staying up?
Good question.
I’ll say 6
I’ve gone beyond a five because I truly believe we’re capable of a mini run where we pick up back to back wins or 7 points from 9. If we do that, then we look far healthier.
I also think we have yet to see the best from Chris Wood. Almost every season he has a significantly better second half to the campaign.

Re: How confident are you about us staying up?
Still not sure - which is worrying because in all our previous struggles, I was always confident we'd escape reasonably comfortably.
Re: How confident are you about us staying up?
4
I think this is a massive week, I really think we need at least 4 points from it, or it will leave us too much to do.
Not that if we get 4 points we will stay up, just think it's the minimum requirement.
Teasins being, our best player looks likely to miss around 6 games through injury, a few more should he go to ACON, Chris Wood who is our only real proven/regular goalscorer looks way out if form and also looking at missing several games.
The team looks tired, 1 dimensional, lacking any sort of creativity and the bench is hardly game changing either.
Sadly looks like several failed windows are catching up with us and biting us in the backside.
I hoped ALK just got here in time, sadly I don't think they did, and this will be the year we drop.
Also you can't always rely on other teams, however also as sad as it is, I can't see 3 worse teams than us in the league.

I was an 8 or 9 at the beginning of the season, now it's down to a 5 or 6, I still believe we will stay up.
Yet I was originally hoping for a finish around 7 - 10 place but that would down to a 2 or 3 now, heading to 1 rapidly.

5. I think we will finish 15th or perhaps as high as 12th.
Re: How confident are you about us staying up?
4 for me, I think it’s more likely than not that we drop.
Main reason being that we are not getting them little things go our way in games where in the past we stole points regularly. That’s the main difference, and unless we start stealing points again we are going to the like of deadwood and dumpdale next season.

I'm currently 50/50
A couple of wins before we hit the halfway mark, and I'll be a lot more confident. We've have had some good results lately that have been overshadowed by our need for a win and our league position.

Re: How confident are you about us staying up?
Another 4 from me. A 3 had we not been in this position before. As said, in other seasons we were masters of keeping clean sheets and nicking a goal, and seeing off those sides in and around us. I haven't been seeing that for some time so I think we're in real trouble. An aging squad and several windows (pre ALK) of under investment will cost us I fear. Here's hoping I am wrong.
Re: How confident are you about us staying up?
Good transfer window 8/10
Poor transfer window 4/10
We need players to improve our team, like Cornet was.

I recognise the strong bonding between the players and it is a good thing they believe in Dyche and Woan.
The lack of PL ability in midfield will be our downfall

Re: How confident are you about us staying up?
4. Missing Cornet for possibly 2 months with injury plus AFCON and we look hopeless without him. A new starting central midfielder is an absolute must in January if we are to stand any chance. The question is who will be worse than us?
Most likely:
Norwich - despite a new manager bounce I don’t think overall they are good enough
Newcastle - need to improve the defence and if they aren’t cut off by January they likely will sign a few
Watford - seem to blow hot and cold, conceding quite a few but also seem to have more goals in them than us and the previous two mentioned
Possibles:
Leeds - second season syndrome but have been without their main striker Bamford for most of it, as well as Raphinha for a few. They’ve got a very good manager and it’s hard to see them going down with him
Brentford - seem to be collecting wins and keeping clean sheets. At least one newly promoted club usually stays up and so far they’ve got points on the board
I think we finish either 18th or 17th and it will be tight hence the 4.

Re: How confident are you about us staying up?
2 but I'm not that concerned if we do get relegated. It will give us the opportunity to rebuild around much younger players
The lack of investment in the squad was an issue over the last 2 seasons and now it is coming to a head.
I really hope I am wrong but I'm not sure this squad is capable of the sustained run of form required. We are already talking about must win games and it is only December.

I’m afraid it’s only a 1/2 for me. There have to be 3 worse teams. Who are they? We don’t create enough chances and therefore don’t score enough goals. I really hope to be proved wrong, but this season, I just can’t see it.

Chances are slim, and all of the warning signs were there last season with zero creativity and a lack of goals from midfield and too many ageing misfiring strikers. 2/10.
Re: How confident are you about us staying up?
Some fairly positive performances give me some hope, but things have to click pretty bloody quickly.
I’ll go with a five as things stand. A five that could as quickly increase as it could decrease. The January window could well be key.

Re: How confident are you about us staying up?
6/10.
Chris Wood simply cannot carry on being this bad. He has had dry spells before and then come through them. I think he'll get 10 goals for the season again.
It's not just Wood. McNeill has been a bit ropey, as has Pope, and we've always been a team that needs everyone to be at least 7/10 and we're a bit below that, but not massively below it.
It's the most important January window since January windows began, though, I think. Find the funds for a striker and a central midfielder and we'll be fine. Don't and it'll be squeeky bum time. But I think we'll be okay.

5 for me. Have been playing reasonably well and been in most games, but that's the worry, we still haven't really picked up the points.
I think it will go all the way, the one thing we have going for us is the physiological side of things. Teams around us know we've been in this position before and escaped, and will fully expect we'll do it again placing more pressure on them.

Not very, but then again I never am. The thing is, we flirt with it almost every year and miraculously we have always turned it round. I just feel our luck has run out this time as we don't look up for the fight like we have been previously and that's probably because of the mental effort required season after season. Eventually, it just becomes that little bit too difficult. Unfortunately.

Re: How confident are you about us staying up?
Only a 1 or 2 for me unfortunately.
We are struggling to keep clean sheets, Wood has slowed down, service isn't what is was, squad becoming stale with workload / tactics, there aren't actually 2 bad teams worse than ourselves.
Almost everyone blames the lack of transfers before ALK, personally I blame Dyche for not refreshing the squad.
Stephens, Barnes, Lennon, JGB, Bardsley & Pieters should have been moved on and replaced 3 transfer windows ago. Even 2 replacements would have improved us.

These next two home games are huge. I think 3 points is an absolute minimum really (ideally beating Watford).
Re: How confident are you about us staying up?
I cant put my finger on it and usually not a problem as we have been here before, but this time feels different. And more to the point I'm already looking at 2 games if we do go down and if/how I can do that when i have things set up around family. not good and a 4 at the moment I'm afraid, but I just hope something clicks as it has done in the past.

2, we've been very fortunate so far with injuries and still can't win for toffee. How are we gonna cope without Cornet for 4-6 weeks for AFCON?
Even when we play well, we can't win games, a recipe for disaster if you can't even win when you play well.

Re: How confident are you about us staying up?
I don't know TBH. I think we all felt terrible at 5pm last Saturday and for several days after. After putting aside my selfishness, my thoughts went to our fans who attended the match. Must have been sickening to lose the World Cup Final. I have detested Newcastle since 1974 and that's not going to change anytime soon.
But when you're a true fan -and I think all Burnley fans are because we're not exactly a magnet for gloryhunters - hope springs eternal. You have to get over the hurt and then up comes another match.
I said on here, a couple of months back, that AB and JR would start scoring again. Barnsey's not featured since then whilst Jay, apart from setting up the goal at Chelsea, just doesn't look like scoring. BUT we all know there's not much logic in football perhaps especially with strikers.
Our chances of staying up depend largely on MV, Jay and Barnsey getting some goals. Chris Wood will score albeit sporadically IF given the right service i.e. balls from the flanks and Westy's long-distance free-kicks.µ
We also need goals from midfield: not a single goal scored by a midfielder in 14 games. That's grim and needs changing.
I do - perhaps naively - believe we will invest in Jan. But we need an absolute minimum of one win before the end of 2021.
I'm somewhere between 5 and 6.

Re: How confident are you about us staying up?
6 for me we have been steadily improving, although the last 2 games give me concerns, especially the Newcastle performance.
Our success in previous seasons has been built on beating those around us, and this season we aren't doing that yet, however our form over recent weeks has been decent, and although we're still in the bottom 3 we have the experience not to panic.
Huge week coming up though, the Watford game really has to be 3 points, otherwise we're in severe danger of leaving ourselves too much to do.
Cornet being out for a lengthy period is also worrying, he's been our main source of creativity, and without him we look predictable.
Key window in Jan, if we can recruit a creative CM that could make all the difference to our prospects.
Performances have generally been better than results, and that in itself has to be a concern, we seem to have lost the ability to grind out ugly wins, which we are usually the masters at.
