Great Happy memories of the Coaching House. Great Mates, great company & good surroundings.
"One Voice singing in the darkness ....... " I will leave the rest to you.
Also the Coaching House had very good picnic tables. That story is better left for another thread.

There has been a few mentions of the Havelock on here, but there was also another pub about 20 yards further up Barracks Rd on the same side called the General Campbell.
Re: Lost Burnley pubs
Bull & Butcher was great until some plonker from Bolton took over, thought he ruled the world and barred all his money makers then decided one night to visit their new local and offer try and start trouble.
That pub never recovered from his tenure.

Bull & Butcher had the same landlord and landlady for years but it was the idiot who decided to rename it The Slaughtered Lamb who damaged it.

What was the name of the pub on Oxford Road, probably just a bit lower down than St. Stephen's Church and on the opposite side?

Roebuck, Peels and the Union I think. I went in them all the night they closed their doors. They had no draught beer and were just selling off their stock of bottled beers.winsomeyen wrote: ↑Wed Dec 22, 2021 9:56 pmBarracks Tavern known as the museum

There were also three pubs on Sandygate, which all closed in the late 60s: the Prince of Wales, the Hole in the Wall, the Old House at Home.

Two that none of us will remember.
Bull - bottom of Manchester Road, became Burtons and was where the meeting was held that decided Burnley would switch to football from rugby.
Pedestrian Arms - where library is now and where Tommy Boyle was landlord.

I see this wonderful list of pubs, and somehow feel reluctant to post certain memories of these establishments as the OP suggested. But is is a lovely thread. Very nostalgic too.
