We will get the 71 definitely. Thought Hobart was supposed to be a flat wicket. Good effort from Wood.

When was the last time we reached 50 runs without losing a wicket? Not on this tour I don't think.

2015 at the MCG is the last time we had a partnership of 50+ in an Ashes Series.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 8:24 amWhen was the last time we reached 50 runs without losing a wicket? Not on this tour I don't think.

Weve also got a bigger average for our first wicket than the Aussies 10th wicket now!

Three more partnerships of 68 should almost see us home. Piece of ****.

Re: 5th Test- Australia v England- Hobart
Green with his extra bounce is the danger man, but he only ever bowls in short spells. The Aussies need a 10 over burst from him. England just have to keep on attacking, a situation just made for Stokes.

And Boland can easily tie and end up with his line & length.claretandbluesky wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 8:46 amGreen with his extra bounce is the danger man, but he only ever bowls in short spells. They've just an very good bowling set up.
If we get close to that total we'll have done well.

Given the way we have collapsed time and time again in this series I would say it would be nothing short of miraculous to to get even close to the total.

Re: 5th Test- Australia v England- Hobart
Think England can win this but need Stokes and Root to fire. There isn’t as much between these two sides as the results suggest. When your openers fail consistently things become hard.
You have to be positive on this pitch, but nobody is ever quite in.

Never really understood bouncers being allowed when you’re supposed to be knocking the stumps over.

That bouncer clearly rattled Malan. 2 very poor shots before playing on to the third one.

After such a promising start, here comes the obligatory batting collapse. 3 wickets lost for 15 runs....

Oh well.
For a short while there was a chance.
Excellent delivery though.

Disappointing from Stokes, situation was set up for him, becoming a bit of a Botham

Stokes has had a very poor series, a mistake to select him given his fitness and lack of cricket?

Root gone and with him any hope of retrieving any consolation in this test. 5 wickets lost for 33 runs. No one does a batting collapse with the frequency and magnitude of an England test side.

68/0 to 107/7, delighted this series is over.
Re: 5th Test- Australia v England- Hobart
Get them home, get Silverwood out, take Root off captaincy, bin the awful 100 and restructure the county game. What a shambolic year for English test cricket.

68/0 to 123/9. They won’t be needing that extra half an hour.

I’d be throwing punches in that dressing room if my team threw the towel in like this, should certainly be the end of a few test careers

All out lost by 146 runs. Huge shakeup needed now. Some should have played their last game for England in this series.

If there was any doubt before, theyve convinced me watching this.
This is far and away the worst England Test side of my lifetime.
Ended the way they've deserve it to end.

Re: 5th Test- Australia v England- Hobart
When I got up this morning we’d started well and I though there might just be a chance. We’ve just lost ten wickets in under two hours. Absolutely appalling.

Re: 5th Test- Australia v England- Hobart
Another pathetic display
5 tests, didn't score 300 once
Only scored over 200 4 times
Australia scored over 400 three times
And only scored less than 200 once (ignoring the 20-1 winning innings)
It's 100% clear where the issue lies
