Re: Burnley vs Leicester postponed?
I see this as another case of things conspiring to going against us. Leicester have been weakened for a few weeks now, and we were going to get to play a weakened side tomorrow. As luck has it though we've had to call it off.

I don't like it either but if we'd played Leicester with, for example, the team that played last week, minus Wood, we'd be shooting ourselves in the foot. Not for the first time this season.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 11:53 amProbably on my own but hate that attitude ‘everyone else does it so why shouldn’t we’

Re: Burnley vs Leicester postponed?
I haven't been on for so long and was really looking forward to tomorrow, even though I wasn't expecting a result. Gutted.
Every rearranged fixture goes to midweek, and my shifts mean I probably won't make them. I beginning to wo der what was the point of renewing my ST.

I think we’re close to the point when Covid becomes endemic and is treated like influenza. Just isolate for a few days (have a few days off work) if you feel really I’ll. No need for tests here, tests there, tests every flippin where.

Assuming that the recovery of injuries and covid cases do not match the miraculous raising of Lazarus then I would think that the Watford game is off too.
Re: Burnley vs Leicester postponed?
I'm not sure. Won't the players who missed last week's cup game with covid be out of isolation in time to make the Watford game?Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 12:15 pmAssuming that the recovery of injuries and covid cases do not match the miraculous raising of Lazarus then I would think that the Watford game is off too.

Every cloud and all that….. Accy Stanley at home against Sunderland tomorrow so I’ll be off to watch that, good crowd on, good atmosphere and they play some very tidy stuff, at least it’s some footy to watch

Re: Burnley vs Leicester postponed?
Will never happen, especially if you think it would be like a void season.
Practically this would mean
No teams that win promotion from Championship coming up
No clarity about who would qualify for the various european leagues
No completion of the various cups
Of course it sounds good to say no relegations given our season - but unless the PL have revised their rules and put in agreed protocols ahead of the season to account for a void season and how that would determine all of these things - It is just going to cause years of legal challenge/wrangles and bring the whole game into a place no one wants to see it.

It can't be helped, but like many, I'm a bit pead off. We had friends coming down from Scotland. All well and good if can we get a replacement in for Woods by the time we play Arsenal, if not, then this will be a wasted opportunity, and massively so.

Re: Burnley vs Leicester postponed?
I am so angry by this bit "Covid becomes endemic"
FFS
Give your head a Wobble.
IT IS SERIOUS.
Endemic is so wrongly used as a word.
The Only thing Endemic about this is Politics and "Economy %s".
Next time you sit in your seat / armchair at home - look at the empty seats.
Look at the capacity - then reduce that by the numbers passing each week - Imagine this.
Over 300 a day (under 28 days) so 2000+ each week (nearer 2700 ONS).
Huzzah!!!

Re: Burnley vs Leicester postponed?
Not surprised that any game is called off now due to covid + injuries
The last 3 days have shown covid deaths at over 350 each day compared to around 200 a day a week ago
The effect of schools going back has not hit the figures yet .
Players are not vaccinated and of course if 1 player catches it then others in his bubble will have to isolate also.
Clubs leave it as late as possible before getting games called off .
Fans getting cheap train tickets/ hotel accommodation as much as 3 weeks before a game need to think long and hard or risk losing large amounts of cash

Re: Burnley vs Leicester postponed?
For once this may have worked in our favour, so good,
as I was dreading the outcome tomorrow, but not sure about the fixture congestion later and the risk of falling too far behind the others even with games in hand.
It looks like questions are now being asked by media about our motives in light of Wood going. Hassenthal and Tuchel already doubting us at their press conferences. Typical, when we ask for our first PP after 3 opposing teams did it to us first.... No-one like us etc....

Re: Burnley vs Leicester postponed?
I imagine Leics were more than willing to miss this as well . Bitter news for us though , we desperately needed these 2 home and very winnable games. If Watford also gets canned we will soon be adrift and that’s before the “ 4 weeks of hell games “ which could very realistically see us 6-10 points adrift of safety with backlog of games ,an almost impossible mountain to climb .

Agree'd. Like looking at a Forest Fire and saying, "It's ok the fire has become endemic now"
For the record I'm bored to the back teeth of it, we're in a far better position than we were 12months ago but that doesn't mean it shouldn't still be taken seriously or talked into the background. Learning to live with it means you have to do the learning part and not just pretend it's 2019 again.

Zero chance of Chelsea/Southampton loaning/selling us a striker.
So much for how Sean Dyche is supposedly widely respected within the game with comments being made by fellow PL managers that we are bending the rules at the first opportunity.

So why not call off the Watford one in the same breath instead of more dicking about. Once again travelling from the Isle of Man tomorrow and again Tuesday. ………

Sell a striker to get you available players down. By the end of January we may not ever play again!

Burnley coming under a bit of scrutiny from the Southampton manager and Adrian Durham for postponing this game.
Both saying there needs to be greater transparency

As I posted earlier so much for Sean Dyche being widely respected within the game when fellow managers raise these questions in an open arena.
The PL is dog eat dog.

Re: Burnley vs Leicester postponed?
The difference here is the timing of the announcement .
A good 24 hours before kick off.
NOT two hours before kick off. ( Watford, Aston Villa)
I had filled up the car, but not set off.

Unfortunately for the clueless mr Durham he didn’t check to see the lad has done his ligaments and is out for the season.

Following the original postponement at the request of Watford they have been busy in the transfer market adding 3 players to their squad,Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 2:35 pmI actually agree with them, but it's a bit late when it's been going on for 2 months now and previously it's been far from transparent imo.
Hassane Kamara reported £4 million
Samir undisclosed
Edo Kayembe
I am sure none of them will enter consideration for the rearranged fixture as part of openness and full transparency.
