If the request is rejected.

1. We field a side stronger than we said we had and we are seen as being deceitful.

2. We are telling the truth and get beat off one of our relegation rivals because we are down to bare bones. If the Premier League are going to change their stance it's guaranteed to be us they start with.

Is it only me that is disappointed in the Club for this?

I just hope we are doing it for the right reasons (Covid) and not injuries and player sale.
It has to be Covid, but Injuries, AFCON, Sales also count toward the total. If it tips us under 13+GK cut off it doesn't matter if it's one or twenty covid cases.

Everyone claiming tests are being made up, it's probably the injuries. A test is a binary, very medically accountable thing. But if you only need one case, then once you have then you can then decide maybe those injurues are worse than we thought. That's very hard to prove.

why would it be? I thought what we did Saturday wasn't right and I believe the same about this if we get our way. I thought the same about Watford, Everton and Villa.
I take your point, but blame the PL not the clubs, once they set the precedent this was bound to be the inevitable result.

It kicks the can down the road for a bit longer
Still have games in hand
Plus Dyche won’t have to face the press if no game is on
If they refuse to cancel the game and we get beat
Obviously something to blame it on undermanned no preparation as coaches weren’t available etc

Personally I would rather we didn’t take advantage of the rule as some other clubs have seemingly done, I would rather be like Leeds in this. Anyway what will be will be.

I really wanted us to play and win this game to get us out of the drop zone. I think, psychologically that would have given us a big boost.

Instead we remain rock bottom with the number of games we have to play mounting up.

10 first team players in training today. NOT GOOD. If we're forced to play this game, it must affect our chances.

Spot says there's no chance of it going ahead.

In the past, teams were fined for "fielding a weakened team" as it was against the integrity of the league
Now we are being told/encouraged to play the youth team, where is the integrity of the league there

Matterface said it was a “joke that we hadn’t ‘Planned for Wood going’ someday with that clause in his deal and not got a new signing through the door” and then went off on a totally irrelevant tirade about ALK’s ownership.

Durham was questioning why we are asking for games to be postponed when we chose to sell Wood for £25m making our numbers ever smaller. He was reminded it was a release clause (which he didn’t believe) and then, again, asked why we hadn’t signed a replacement in the 3 days since we sold him.
Matterface & Durham have been appalling

No problem with the club doing what they are doing, as folk say above, everyone else is. Although o do wish we’d just get on with it.

I just find the whole thing mind numbing now. I’m rapidly losing interest.

Clubs should have been made to get on with it from day one each knowing that they may play a weakened opposition but there turn to be weakened would come at some point.

Also it’s no surprise that in an industry full of rule bending to the point players now even routinely pinch inches on the bloody corner quadrant, that the rules are being bent by clubs to suit their own needs.

It sums the premier league up.

Mawell away, Vydra with his hernia, who else is injured? We've barely kicked a ball in anger in months..

If they're all Covid cases, fair enough but when is this crap going to end?

Another reason why season ticket sales are dwindling, not all supportes live within a few miles of the ground and all these late postponements and re arranged fixtures can be a logistical nightmare for some, especially if there's 3 games in a week.

At some point somebody is going to have to make a call on the rules moving forward, look how many Championship games were played at the weekend, nearly all of them..

It’s a bit hard to have a contingency plan for a striker leaving without any notice at any point during a long term contract. No club, Burnley or otherwise, can turn around a replacement Number 9 immediately. Things aren’t that simple.
Any player can slip on the ice/ fall down stairs etc and be out for months. Most clubs with a recruitment team would have short and long term solutions in place. Otherwise you’d be the desperate situation we’re in. Getting someone in quickly isnt easier but it’s a damn sight easier if you know where to look to begin with

If the original fixture against Watford had been forced to go ahead then we would have been playing an under-strength Watford 11.

Some seem OK with a situation whereby we are forced to field an under-strength team tomorrow night against the same opposition that has been further strengthened by 3 January signings.

Bizarre.

Funnily enough, there are rules in place already, and it's partly because of the PLs Covid protocols that we can't raise a team. All explained by Sean in the presser today.

20 odd games abandoned and most agree it had to be done, we request a second and we're opportunistic chancers playing the system and try to cheat our way up. If we do stay up and these games are postponed, allowing us to get new players in or key ones back, you can bet your bottom dollar there'll be a legal challenge from the side whose expense we're perceived to have stayed up at. It's rather annoying! Little old Burnley.

If we really only have 10 players available we really are in a pickle if they refuse it, but I can't see how they can unless they find evidence that we're lying and cheating, which surely we aren't??

Can't believe anyone wants to play a team we MUST finish above this season with half a squad. Lets play it on 4th round Cup day, when we should have a few more players fit, Cornet might be back from AFCON and, who knows, we may even have signed a new player or two!

We've got very little squad depth even if we did bring in 2-3 this window.
Games in hand will start to be to our detriment if we're soon playing a European style schedule. How many points will we pick up if the squad is run into the ground?

It’s come from the point I was making. Matterface said we should have signed a player as soon as Wood was sold to ensure we could play Leicester, rather than asking for a postponement (ignoring the fact that postponement would have been asked for whether we had Wood or not).

You can't put the worms back in the can.
They should ALL have been made to play, including us.
But to make us play now , after the original fixture was postponed because of Watford, would be the height of hypocrisy. That won't matter to the Premier League though, we are after all only Burnley

Came close with Collins who was described as Bambi on ice despite playing well and keeping a clean sheet at Newcastle in the cup then replasced next game :D

Burnley Football Club can confirm it has made an application to the Premier League for the postponement of Tuesday night’s match at home to Watford.

The decision was reluctantly made to submit the application due to a high number of injuries and Covid-19 cases within the squad.

The Premier League Board will meet later today to review the application and inform both clubs of its decision.
