I think Sean would flourish there, with the squad already in place and money for future signings...won't happen though.
Re: Benitez Sacked
He'd double Lennon's salary .

Ive sent a résumé for Sean Dyche to Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright and put Spijed on it as his reference.

Re: Benitez Sacked
Aye and he and his players are under no pressure whatsoever hence their carefree approach. We see it usually towards the end of a season when teams know they're done for. A few defeats and they'll be derailed . Derby are lucky that those other teams at the bottom are complete basket cases.
Re: Benitez Sacked
There isn't anything funny about the Rooney suggestion. He's done a brilliant job at Derby this season under the most difficult of circumstances. Sadly, some people just won't ever see past the "thick" portrayal of him.
As for Benitez, I was reading this morning how the Everton owner has given him a lot of power at the club and has seen off a number of players and staff with whom he disagreed, only to sack him after 6 months. Just goes to illustrate how there is very little joined up or long-term thinking there.

Re: Benitez Sacked
Swap Derby and Rooney for Burnley and Dyche, where's our carefree approach we are playing with as we aren't under pressure?evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 4:00 pmAye and he and his players are under no pressure whatsoever hence their carefree approach. We see it usually towards the end of a season when teams know they're done for. We've been dog sh1te for a whole calendar year, dropping 14 points from winning positions this season alone.
Players guaranteed a starting position week in week out regardless of form, becoming players "in their comfort zone"
Winger for winger, forward for forward and a continuation of hoof regardless of opposition formation, tactics or personnel in every single game we play.
( think we tried 3 at the back once in 8 seasons)
We are reactive rather than pro active in both on snd off the pitch.
It'd be a breath of fresh air seeing a carefree attacking approach where players look like they've got some fight in them, as we haven't looked like even having the fight in us if late.

And for the same reason it would be reasonable to say he has done a very good job keeping his players focused in very difficult circumstances.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 4:00 pmAye and he and his players are under no pressure whatsoever hence their carefree approach. We see it usually towards the end of a season when teams know they're done for. Re: Benitez Sacked
Would he fancy it? Many years of poor reception at Goodson after signing for United May have taken its toll.
Chance to redeem himself, I suppose, but he doesn’t have a great squad to start with (and won’t have much time to correct it).
Re: Benitez Sacked
He'd jump at the chance surely, their squad is far better than their league position suggests and he returned to Everton after United. He won't get the chance though I wouldn't have thought.

Can't see it being offered to an untried Premier League manager. Surely they'll be going for a "name" from Europe

Re: Benitez Sacked
They've nothing to lose, have they ? A mix of journeymen and kids playing for 20,000 odd thousand fans and on decent money with what appeared to be a crippling point deduction. They're giving it a go but the Derby and Blades fans I spoke to last night reckon Derby should have been dead and buried by half time.
We'll see how he does but to suggest Rooney is capable of PL management yet stinks of desperation, Lampard-style.
Re: Benitez Sacked
Like I said, little to play for so it wouldn't be unreasonable to suggest Rooney is doing a good job keeping his squad motivated and prepared in tough circumstances.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 5:09 pmThey've nothing to lose, have they ? Considering he’s likely to have his squad ravaged again this next fortnight it’s unfair to expect him to maintain the current levels.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 6:38 pmWe'll see how many points Derby have at the end of the season......

Even that wouldn't be a fair appraisal. You'd need to add 21 to it.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 6:38 pmWe'll see how many points Derby have at the end of the season......
Re: Benitez Sacked
I'm not sure that will be a fair basis on which to judge Rooney given the exceptional circumstancesevensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 6:38 pmWe'll see how many points Derby have at the end of the season......

Re: Benitez Sacked
I think Rooney is a perfectly sensible suggestion. The owners saw Rafa as a long term project, but the fans got him out before it ever got going. Rooney has been thrown in at the youth end of the market, largely by necessity but it means he’s worked in youth from both sides of coaching. If they wanted another long term appointment there would be few Toffee’s who would turn their noses up at a Rooney/Ferguson ticket.

Re: Benitez Sacked
Rafa was never going to last long at Goodison, but I honestly thought he'd have lasted longer than 6 months, mind you what did the owner expect when he appointed the guy who guided Liverpool to their 1st CL title, it was always going to end in this manner, as most Everton fans wanted him out from day 1.
Ferguson/Rooney ticket could be explosive, and for the neutrals it might well be worth watching purely for the fun it'll bring to the PL.
