U-23 Wolves v Burnley
Re: U-23 Wolves v Burnley
Thought we played very well in the 1st half but they were the better team in the 2nd. We played some nice football and could have been more than 1 up at ht. A big difference from the 1st half was that Tucker didn't really get into the game in the 2nd. Helm looked nice and tidy and everyone had a decent game.

Helm, Mancini, Tucker, Richardson enough there to raise hopes we have an interesting future if we do get relegated. The thought of bringing young players through has always been the most exciting aspect of any football side, maybe just maybe we might be heading back in that direction.

Our team was collectively much the younger.
People comment on our (relatively) poor second half, but once again it's about substitutions. Wolves made changes and upped their levels, we leave the same eleven, who by nature of age difference were bound to tire.

And I was just pointing out that many of the team were missing for one reason or another

There’s promise we should be celebrating that.

We should have had the game won by half time but we missed a couple of really good chances and they came out with more determination in the second half and Jordao certainly showed his class.
Average age of our squad tonight was just under 19 and I thought that we worked hard for the point

Alfie Hughes is from Leeds. Played 19 games for their U18'S in 20/21 and scored 1 goalClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 6:06 pmTosin Olopade is the young lad I exclusively revealed back in early November had signed a three year contract with us. It's a signing of a young player that's never, even now, been confirmed by the club.
I don't know who Hughes is.

Re: U-23 Wolves v Burnley
I wish the club executives would show more interest in the Under 23s, perhaps do features on individuals in a similar way to Wolves, as i've seen this evening.
Sometimes I can't help but see our development as just going through the motions....
Sorry if that offends, just my opinion.

It's not just the U-23's, the club is notoriously bad at PR right across the board. It's like they want everything to be kept amongst themselves. It was one of the things I expected to change under ALK, it's usually the American way to be more inclusive & create interest for the paying public.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 9:52 pmI wish the club executives would show more interest in the Under 23s, perhaps do features on individuals in a similar way to Wolves, as i've seen this evening.

Like you say, features, profiles, promoting live games for the development teams.....I'd have watched tonights match if I'd known about it in advance, like the Birmingham game, but by the time I'd put the laptop on, it was over.

I think your right. In reality we should have had at least 3 and stone wall penalty in the first half.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 9:23 pmWe should have had the game won by half time but we missed a couple of really good chances and they came out with more determination in the second half and Jordao certainly showed his class.

We then came under the cosh in the second half. Did wolves have that Cb from Liverpool playing? Wasn’t he supposed to be an expensive signing aswell?

Ki-Jana Hoever was playing. He signed from Liverpool, as an 18 year old, for a reported 10million fee.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 8:53 amI think your right. In reality we should have had at least 3 and stone wall penalty in the first half.

I agree that we definitely should have had a penalty, although having said that, in spite of being involved in the game for well over 50 years at senior level, I no longer know what constitutes the award of a penalty! Our lad was absolutely steam-rollered from behind!

They had a very strong team out. I think it shows that our u23 team is progressing well and maybe a couple should be pushing for first team minutes.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 4:42 pmKi-Jana Hoever was playing. Penalty as stone wall as I have ever seen. The player was taken out from behind with no intent to get the ball
