I think we’re going to need to offer £100k a week...
I think we’re going to need to offer £100k a week...
...for top quality British/International loan signings for 5-6 months.
It sounds a hell of a lot of money but how else can we attract the quality we need to join in the survival/relegation battle?

We don’t need to offer that at all if we recruit from abroad and The Champ mainly.

We're not known for betting the ranch on staying in the Prem and I'm sure we won't be spending that kind of money this year. GodIsADeeJay is right, there's no need to panic.

£100k per week won’t be far off what Newcastle will be paying Chris Wood.

Widely reported that Wood signed a deal for 2 and half years at 85k per week an increase of £35k a week.
As for paying a footballer £100k a week at Burnley, would only lead to financial oblivion.

And you've only just realised that. The obscene amount of money swirling throughout the game is yet another factor which is slowly lessening my love for the sport.
When even average PL players are earning in excess of 100k a week it is little wonder the average punters feel detached from the game.

Yes it is a totally different world now. In the 70’s I remember when Burnley players and managers lived alongside us mere mortals and many of them didn’t earn much more than people with professional occupations.tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 4:41 pmAnd you've only just realised that. Quite a few players lived up Red Lees Road, Jim Thomson lived on Parklands, Ray Hankin also lodged on Parklands. I’m not advocating that players shouldn’t be earning good money but it is just ridiculous now.

Two quality players ON LOAN at £100,000 a week each x 20 weeks = £4 million
A lot of money to pay out but that might be the price we have to ‘gamble’ on to stay in the PL.
I just can’t see any other way that we can attract the quality we need in the January window.

£100k a week isn't the end of the world if we get better players than Danny Drinkwater who was on £100k a week when we had him, we paid a % of his wages and then a loan fee on top to cover the rest, just like we did years ago with Nugent when he was here on loan from Portsmouth and he was on £40-50k a week at the time I thinkMala591 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 7:38 pmTwo quality players ON LOAN at £100,000 a week each x 20 weeks = £4 million

That's just how the system works and tbh if we ended up with someone like the Chelsea lad, Gallagher, at Palace then great.
Also, we may not have to cough up £100k a week because there's no way Gallagher is earning that right now.
As I said earlier, no panic, just calm down.
