Martinez to Everton?
Everton have approached Belgium about Martinez according to the BBC.
Re: Martinez to Everton?
It would be another appointment destined to fail, in quite a short space of time. Basket case of a club. Bang average footballers on highly inflated wages.

Agreed, he's had all that Belgian talent at his disposal for years & achieved zilch. Madness!

Re: Martinez to Everton?
I was listening to former Everton player Alan Stubbs today. He said Martinez had been fortunate inheriting David Moyes' defence first time round and said he'd be a poor appointment.

Re: Martinez to Everton?
Martinez average
Silva failed
Ancelotti average and failed so bailed on them
Benitez failed
Beginning to think it might not just the managerial appointments that are the issue at Everton

Howe would have been a decent appointment for them. Now need to go for a fresh face with something to prove rather than the stale old managers they hanker after.

Potter at Brighton might provide the magic touch they need, but would he leave Brighton when he's in the process of building something with them.claretandbluesky wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 9:07 pmHowe would have been a decent appointment for them. The Everton gig does appear to be a poisoned chalice ever since Moyes departed, and whoever they've appointed, or however much money they've thrown at it, they've not improved one iota, in fact they've probably took a couple of steps backwards in the past few seasons.

Bit rich Alan Stubbs criticising someone on their managerial record.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 6:14 pmI was listening to former Everton player Alan Stubbs today. He said Martinez had been fortunate inheriting David Moyes' defence first time round and said he'd be a poor appointment.

Everton got stuck with an image of themselves. I’d be tempted to go with Rooney crazy to that sounds.

Rooney at Everton would be a great appointment for us and Newcastle.

Amazing what a little bit of belief can do both with a team and supporters.. Think OC.

Re: Martinez to Everton?
No long term thinking at Everton. Seemingly random choices of managers, wasting money on poor signings.
If they carry on I can see them getting dragged into a relegation battle in the near future.

If they aren't careful it might be sooner than they think. They will certainly be looking over their shoulders following the weekend results,claret2018 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 9:41 pmNo long term thinking at Everton. Seemingly random choices of managers, wasting money on poor signings.

They do have a few games upcoming that in normal circumstances they'd fully expect to take points in, but once a side gets into a rut it's incredibly hard to break that cycle.

Re: Martinez to Everton?
They haven't done the best with mangers since Moyes
Martinez - bored the fans to death
Koeman - weird appointment
Big Sam - was never going to be accepted by the deluded fanbase
Silva - way off Prem level
Ancelotti - was always going to run as soon as a decent job was offered
Rafa - was never going to be accepted by the deluded fanbase
Now they want Martinez back

That would explain why he was potted by Everton and has had to drop into the championship.

Not sure you're aware of what facts are, I gave you factual stats, you gave me an opinion about them not moving clear of Blackburn and dressed it as factual.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 10:41 amYet can't get a gig in the Prem and is struggling with the best squad by a mile to move clear of Tony Mowbray & Blackburn
Facts are always more relevant that dumb stats
They've got a game in hand and are top of the league, they just won 7-0 and 6-2 back to back.

Re: Martinez to Everton?
Guardiola has lost more games as a premier league manager than Duncan Ferguson
That is about as relevant as your stat.
Anyway that is enough conversing with you it is making me itch
Re: Martinez to Everton?
Potter is the hot property in premier at moment.
Amazing job at Brighton. And plays great football as well.

Re: Martinez to Everton?
Depends what you call great football. They play a modern brand of football where they keep the ball, pass it around quite well in areas other than the final third, out to the wing backs, back inside. All neat and pretty but I find it utterly tedious to watch. Like a lot of modern sides. We get some stick but I actually prefer a more direct style. As long as there is some finesse to go with it and we don't just resort to lumping it.
