West Indies v England T20i

Post by Milltown1882 » Sat Jan 22, 2022 6:10 pm

So after the 4.9-0 defeat in the Ashes we’re back to the white ball stuff.

Anyone watching tonight? Rumours Billings will open with Roy. Hopefully we get a good look at some of the fringe players like Salt and Garton in this series.

If we bat the 20 overs it will be one of our longest innings of the winter.

Now back the real stuff after weeks of that oddly retro game which is for some reason called Test cricket. I just hope all that five day nonsense hasn’t spoilt the boys’ beer match/baseball technique: I mean who really thinks it is a good idea to play each ball on its merits?

Finally a format England are good at, given the WI have lost a few experienced players after the WC I'd follow expect England to win the series.

Number 1 vs number 10 ranked side I think, should win comfortably but we are also missing a few. I’d prefer it to be quite close just for viewing reasons

Yes it would be good for the series and England if it was at least competitive, and how some of the younger players deal with pressure situations is always telling.

If England were to lose this series it would be somewhat embarrassing for the ECB, especially in the wake of the Ashes debacle.

Why would we include a Scottish new town?

Being serious it's a 5 match series, and the coaches probably want to give everyone a shot at impressing.

He and Salt should feature later on in the tour.

None of the Ashes touring party are included, about the only decision they've got right all winter.

Typical James Vince cameo that.

Bizarre innings it seems to be a boundary or out thus far.

The bowling has been very good but you’d think it was a mine field or they were blindfolded

They play too much red ball cricket. Clearly not prepared mentally or technically for a 20-over slog.

Suspect it’s because there is another game tomorrow.

Mixing the squad up. Ordinarily he’d be in the first choice eleven.

Yep! Usually a big fan of our white ball cricket but so despondent with the whole set up following that horror show in Australia.

Problem being for cricket is they dont have limited over competitions the game will die as professional sport IMHO the generation coming doesn't have the attention span to watch the traditional game they need instant excitement etc.
