HMG left with part ownership of Bolton Wanderers ...

Post by Clarets4me » Wed Jan 26, 2022 8:35 pm

Football Ventures ( Whites ) Ltd, the parent company of Bolton Wanderers have failed to repay their £5,000,000 Covid support loan from the Treasury through the £1.1bn " Future fund ". They are one of 265 firms ( out of 1,190 ) who have chosen to convert their loan into shares. There is no question of any illegality, as this seems to have been permitted under the terms of the loan ...

The thing that interests me is that the Government now own 8% of the Company, which effectively values Bolton at £62.5m !! Whoever's agreed this on behalf of HMG, and the taxpayer, needs to be invited to a " meeting without Coffee " and be clearing his desk shortly thereafter ...

Madness !

Heck.

And if any other league sides do similar, won't HMG have contravened league rules? :D

I wasn't sure.
At least won't have to listen to Boris explaining his government don't support any side.

I'm convinced HMRC are determined to teach a football club a lesson after the likes of Portsmouth etc have gotcawsu with not paying the dues other businesses have to or get wound up.
