Sunderland
Went to see these potential opponents for next season.
OMG were they dire
Bolton are no World beaters (Seven shots on target producing 6 goals) but they demolished the Mackems.
Sunderland will be lucky to stay in League 1 on that showing!

Re: Sunderland
Money won't change attitude. P*ss poor !
A former West Ham player (Oladapo Afolayan) was man of the match, a very useful inside forward. But one that caught the eye was former Accy Stanley forward, Dion Charles (bagged a brace).

I watched Peterborough Sheffield Utd.
The gulf in ability has grown massively since we got promoted, both teams were poor.

Re: Sunderland
Sounds like them. To be honest I didn’t expect them to be in League One for four years. It’s not the first hammering they’ve had this season either, I think they went for five at Rotherham.RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 8:00 pmThey took 5,500 to The Reebok today but by the 80th minute, there were only 500 left

There’s about 150 Sunderland ‘lads’ currently in the Angel pub. They have closed the pub it’s that busy. All in mini buses, they come before the game then come back after it.

Very much so. Was a bit shocked to be fair.
Not watched a Championship game for ages.

Re: Sunderland
Saw Sunderland at Accrington a couple of weeks ago. Sat back for the last 20 mins. or so,1-0 up and against 10 men and paid the penalty when Stanley deservedly equalised. Just one game obviously but didn't see any player for them that looked better than the level they were at.

Must confess I was stunned at that scoreline. I’ve a really good mate up at Sunderland but he won’t answer his phone for the next 72 hours at least. Re: Sunderland
Great fans who deserve far better from their team. A succession of chancer owners, like those in the doc Sunderland till I die have really screwed them.
They get over 30,000 for home games but it looks light years till we play them again, despite pessimists on here
We are Premier league UTC

Looks it to me. I’ve just spoken to my mate up there and he’s very surprised at the news.
They’d have been too of the league had they won yesterday.

Seems trigger happy to me, yes they were poor yesterday, but they are sat 3rd in the league, admittedly having played a lot more games than the top 2, but a PO place looks certain as a minimum.

Re: Sunderland
Seems a good idea sacking a manager just over 24 hours before the window closes giving any new appointment no chance to bring in any players.

After a 6-0 thrashing the board decided it was the manager who should take the early bath.

Do they still do that? Not seen one for a couple of years but that could be due to COVID. It was a decent watch but the editing was awful. Sunderland would concede at Stadium of Light and it would show fans shouting abuse at St Andrews.

Even more absurd given they are 3rd in the league, a tough gig for whoever replaces Johnson, as if they don't make automatic promotion, or win the play-off's their position could be under threat going off this precedent.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 3:46 pmSeems to be favourite now Ferguson has opted to stay at Everton.
What a ridiculous time to sack a manager though, with the transfer deadline looming.
