What a world we live in when a victim of crime posts the evidence on social media rather than reporting it to the police.

I hope that doing so doesn't impact on the legal proceedings.
What a world we live in when people see a story like this and their first thoughts are that the victim didn't handle it particularly well

He should be viewed, and dealt with the same as any other domestic violence abuser. Disgusting and hope it gets dealt with properly regardless of what his profession is.

He’s right though, she’s shot herself in the foot like another poster said now it’s in the public domain the case will be compromised had she done things differently more hush hush she would have probably got the justice she deserved, I guess in the heat of the moment smart thinking doesn’t factor.

I don’t believe that not straightaway but things will die down & less people will be bothered about him & more forgiving especially if he shows remorse.

I just hope his club don’t pay off the lass to make this go away.

I find it absolutely incredible that is ever allowed to happen to save people from prison, it’s a joke.

I have been watching this thread most of the day and not commented till now.
My current partner was in a really violent relationship for about 10 years. Taken to hospital on several occasions and didn’t know a way out. She was on a Police special list , don’t know it’s name and not asking her. But when the number came up on 999, the police just respond. Read the comments about just leave but she had no where to go and no one she could turn to for help. We had known each other from being teenagers, I help get her out of the situation and we then got together.

On the social media issue, when I did jury service I sat on the case of the guy who looked like the guy from Friends. He did a spoof video of the event which went viral. The defence used that video in his trial to try to suggest it might influence the Jury. His defence lawyers will do the same, should it go to trial.

It’s just another string to the bow & I enjoyed meeting different people & enjoyed the experience despite not receiving any money for it, it feels good doing something without expecting anything back in return, it’s very humbling I’d recommend it.

Extremely odd - ‘phone was hacked’ is such nonsense as well.

It reads as though he’s more bothered about it getting out to the public that it actually happening!

Smacks of a bloke who’s seeing his golden goose flying away. Unbelievable. No condemnation of Greenwood, no real concern about his daughter. I struggle to believe what I’ve just read.

Disgusting that a father would think about money when this stuff has happened to his daughter. If this was my daughter I think I’d be the next person arrested by the Police for what I’d do.

Why is he thinking about money? He’s probably acting cool because if his daughter still holds feelings for greenwood there’s every chance of them getting back together when the dust settles, he’s probably in a really awkward position.

Ched Evans, Lee Hughes and the ex-Plymouth (?) keeper returned at other clubs but in this day and age, can anyone realistically see Greenwood pulling another shirt on after this, let alone an MUFC one ?

It’s not an awkward position. It’s his daughter - she’s black and blue and the audio clip implies something else that I won’t say happening to her too.

It’s very simple what to say when asked for a quote about this ‘man’ and what he has done to his daughter:

“I’m so sad for my daughter, I wish she’d told us sooner - I’m glad the thug is arrested and that he isn’t anywhere where he can lay his hands on anyone else. I would like to say far more about Greenwood but fear I would myself be arrested for threatening behaviour and provocation - I leave all matters to the Police and I am glad to see his club have suspended him” - Or…some such.

I certainly wouldn’t be saying “They were very much in love, it’s so hard as we’ve followed him since he was in the Under 21’s” etc etc.
I realise you’re trying to build a bit of a profile on here as someone who goes against the grain, but surely you can see the obviousness within the fathers response?

I honestly don’t know, I’m not going against any grain or building any profile up, I see it as a man who wants to play safe because there’s a possibility that they could become an item again & he doesn’t want to alienate greenwood because his daughter will probably have a good life with the rich trappings greenwood can offer thus perhaps benefiting himself also & holds some sort of faith in greenwood turning over a new leaf, he knows him better than any of us lot, maybe he’s a placid man & it’s not in his nature to be angry.

I would exercise caution when mentioning Ched Evans. He was proved innocent.

The circumstances in the ched Evans case were so far from similar fact to this, I don't think that they can be or should be compared.

I hope you don't have a daughter. Christ on a bike

The circumstances in the ched Evans case were so far from similar fact to this, I don't think that they can be or should be compared.
Exactly. That’s what I was alluding to.

Lot of people speculating wildly about what could be a pretty horrific subject for any number of people involved without knowing anything of what happened, the law or the feelings/pain involved.

Real ugly thread is this.

Some of us have heard the recording, seen the pictures and know who is alleged to have perpetrated the apparent crimes. I admit there is *some* speculation in that I am believing the accuser but I'm going to challenge you on your use of "wild" to describe that speculation.

Ok although it has tentacles in to football, the way this thread is going its getting to a point that can hurt many who have been in a similar situation. So I would suggest stick to the facts rather than speculation or lock the thread, either way please keep others who have been connected to this hell in mind

By wild speculation I’m talking about accusations against her Dad, some victim shaming, people questioning the alleged victims conduct …… that stuff knocks me sick.
