Transfer window rated out of 10
With no further transfers looking likely and MSD getting a nice early advance on their loan repayment what would you rate this window out of 10?
Think Garlick would’ve been slated completely for this month but Pace seems to have had a lot easier ride.
Has to go down as a 3/10 when we’ve traded an established PL striker for an untested one (one who arguably could turn out well) and leaving none of the clearly obvious gaps in the team unfilled.
Fear we will be shopping in a very different market in the summer.

Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
1 - can't be anything else (as it stands). Striker for striker. No further forward.
Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
Using the same criteria as the ratings threads, where 4 is poor and 5 is below par, I'd probably go for 4.5 out of 10.
I think selling Wood for the price we did and getting what appears to be a good signing in as his replacement was good business. I take the point that Wood is tested and Weghorst isn't, but Wood was incredibly poor this season and it's hard to see how Weghorst won't at least equal his contribution.
The failure, and it is a complete failure, to otherwise strengthen the midfield of the side with 1 win all season will almost certainly see us relegated though. Don't get me wrong, it would still have been tough, but it would have given us a fighting chance.
Pace clearly tried but he didn't succeed.

We were going down anyway, we've swapped a big striker for a big striker and made a bit of cash for the next loan repayment.
Alan had a short break in Croatia (lovely place). That's about it really.

Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
I think the fact that Weghorst is a good three inch taller than Wood makes it a good window. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of the season where Westy, Corky, Browny, Tarky, Mee,ey and the rest will now be able to lump the ball hopefully forward with a bit more force and a bit more height in the general direction of Weghorsty. Bring it on.

To say we’ve not secured a midfielder as of yet is nothing short of criminal. Like when Dean marney got injured in 2015 and we desperately needed cover we went down. I can see the same happening now. Strikers are only as good as the service they get. I’d love to know the assist count from open play from Westwood , cork and brownhill.

But apparently we don’t need a creative centre mid.

We needed to re- invest all of the Wood money and we haven’t .
A very disappointing window and I don’t think we can go anywhere now in our relegation fight .

Cheers mate I knew they would be shocking. I think Westwood has 1 from open play against Brentford. The rest must be corners.
Diabolical stats.
Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
We’ll never know but had Wood not been sold, would we have brought no one in? From a before the window to after the window view point, this is what we’ve done, which isn’t good enough.
We’ve not addressed key problems so I can’t see how it can be scored anything above a three, at best.

It's hard to imagine we would have signed Weghorst if we hadn't sold Wood. I wonder if we would have even have tried to sign Orsic without that money coming in.
It's a 1/10 from me for the transfer window, with the obvious caveat that like everyone else I don't really know how good Weghorst is. What is clear is that we've done the absolute minimum, with a little holiday for Pacey thrown in.
Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
At the moment it's a 2, if a miracle happens before 11 and we get someone else in ofbthe same quality of Vornet I'll remark.
If this is it though p1ss poor again.

2/10.
We've known our faults for long enough, had a go at fixing them in the Summer and this window was a real chance to sort it with literally two more players (imo). No excuses, there are players out there who would have helped us here and now, whether on loan or not.
Hopefully after 11pm I'll be able to take this back and it'll be a strong 8/10 window.

1/10.
All that has happened is we have £13 million which will disappear into the hole of debt the club has. 1 like for like signing, no new winger or CM, extremely poor window which has almost certainly sealed our fate. New owners maybe, but same old same old.

Strikers validate assists.
It's not entirely down to the midfield, we've missed some pretty decent chances this season.

2/10
So basically if Wood wasn’t sold - which we wouldn’t have done on 9/10 occasions, Newcastle’s desperation being the 1/10 exception - we would have literally signed no one.
Weghorst may prove better than Wood but he also might not. Therefore we are the same as we entered when it was glaringly obvious we needed strengthening.
The only possible thing that can save us from here is Maxwel Cornet stays fit for every single game.

2/10 as it stands, a new striker who will suffer from the well known lack of supply of the ball due to a slow, ageing, ponderous central midfield. It's a midfield that is also failing to get the best from McNeil. He has no-one along side him to play off.
Relegation becons.

3/10 and that's with plus 1 for clearly aiming pretty high and trying very hard. The intent was quite obviously there, but sadly intent is not enough in our predicament. As mentioned above we offloaded Wood for an excellent price and have possibly ended up with an upgrade. But essentially we lost one and bought one and haven't added to the "group" generally. We needed a real boost, injection and filip and who knows what could have happened, despite our awful position, but after an entire month we didn't get it. Going down.

Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
2/10 WW might be an upgrade on Wood, time will tell, but we haven't strengthened the problem areas of right wing and centre midfield.
Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
Using the scale we use for players on the ratings thread I would say 6 I.e average.
We’ve only lost Wood and replaced him with a like for like player. For whatever reason Wood has been poor this season so a swap for me was a good thing.
Also we’ve not lost anyone else. Tarks being the obvious one. Our defence looks top drawer as long as everyone is focused on the job in hand. Plenty of cover and everyone knows how to fit with our system.
Up front Wout looks a good signing. Cornet has been amazing. Ash,Jay and Vids are all past their best and I don’t think any of them will be here next year. However as cover we might just be ok.
So that leaves our beleaguered midfield. We are threadbare and worn. Westwood McNeil and Brownhill can have good matches. Lennon hasn’t been as bad as I thought. Cork and JBG look like they are finished. One extra quantity player could have made a real difference. As it is we look like every week we will be playing with someone who is not really up to it.
So so near to being in a good place. CM or wide would have been so good.

Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
Wood elected to move, he held all the cards and we had nothing that could stop that decision made by him. The priority probably and rightly changed overnight as we weren't expecting to lose anyone, let alone our main striker.
I would say bringing in an International striker from a decent league is to be applauded at such short notice.
It appears the Orsic deal was all but concluded when apparently the player had a change of heart. Heaven forbid he maybe put his family or personal feelings over those of a few Burnley fans. Again, nothing the Club could do about it.
Ramsey probably has no stomach for a relegation fight and has shown little ambition by signing for Rangers. He can hide behind any statement he makes but nobody would argue he has gone for an easy ride.
Should we fail to bring anyone in before tonight's deadline the harsh reality is we are very much bottom of the pile of Premier League clubs when it comes to being attractive. Small club mentality and no ambition other than survive without improving is how my friends who support other clubs view Burnley.
Without another signing it will be a poor window for sure but at least we have had an interactive experience for a change.

6.5/10 if orsic had come in
9 if Orsic and a midfielder had arrived
Still time to bump up the 2, but anyone who usually gets snippets and tells me it's all gone very quiet, hopefully that means as we've moved onto plan E, F and G and it's a rabbit out of the hat job.

Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
I have to wonder why the thread has actually been created?
The facts are these... the last two windows have seen movement by us. We didn't get Orsic, but by all accounts it was close and we had done everything we possibly could to get him.
Garlick did nothing whatsoever for far too long. He's to blame for our current predicament, not Pace or ALK. At least not yet they aren't. I see people just waiting to jump all over them, almost as if they can't wait. We have been diabolically inept in the market for such a long time before the current board brought in Cornet, Roberts, Collins and Weghorst, and Garlick is getting an easy ride off some on here, but if we do end up relegated, it'll be his inaction to blame. We 'lost' Wood and that was impossible for the board to counter, so anyone whinging about selling Wood and bringing in Weghorst at half the fee really is clutching at straws with regards to blaming the board for using the money to settle loans.
We might not like the model used to 'purchase' the club, but Garlick the messiah sanctioned it and walked away with a pocketful, and we now have a board who at least are trying to get players in. Measuring ALK against Garlick is pointless.... if they bring in a tea lady they have already improved upon the mess left by greedy ********.
Pace and ALK deserve to be given a fair crack of the whip, but it seems there are plenty who want to write them off BEFORE they get it as wrong as Garlick clearly did.
It's a 5 btw.

Difficult to rate when you don't know what's gone on.
That said, I'll go 4/10 - Poor.
Would have been 7/10 - Good, with Orsic signing.
Would have been 8+ with another first team player signing.
Oh well.

Replaced Wood with a better player and made a profit. Not selling any others is a big bonus.
Intent was shown which will hopefully put us in a good place in the summer if we stay up.
