He certainly wanted to stop the ball from going out for a throw on the Longside in the second half
He had no right to win that ball but held the defender of won the ball and played the ball into space

I agree but he’s a catalyst. He’s so good at holding up the ball it just seems to stick to him almost John Louis Valois like.
He was at a Champions League side and he made a couple of sprints for loose balls tonight where he outpaced their backline.Shaggy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 10:59 pmI agree but he’s a catalyst. He’s so good at holding up the ball it just seems to stick to him almost John Louis Valois like.
The only thing he lacks is pace of any sort he’s pretty slow but if he had pace he’d be at a champions league side.
Huge difference Over Wood. The rest of the squad are starting to believe again, Brownhill recently has been a demon.
Something has definitely changed following Wood's departure, and it does make you wonder whether he was dragging the rest of the dressing room down with his lacklustre displays, now we finally look like a team fighting for one another, and prepared to scrap for every ball, which wasn't the case for some games in the first half of the season.Shaggy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 10:59 pmI agree but he’s a catalyst. Valois mention made me smile. It did seem to stick to him and he was an exciting outlet. I’ve just looked up his career and feel like he should have played for better sides than he didShaggy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 10:59 pmI agree but he’s a catalyst. he's galvanized the support on the back of his endeavor - his determination and will has rubbed off on all of the players and all of the supporters. Noses firmly pointing in the same direction now - he's made a HUGE difference
Great goalscorer for us but you can't carry poachers in our position. You need players with good teamwork and better all round play.dermotdermot wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 3:08 amWood has turned into a 25million plank. He’s a plank of wood. I guarantee that he won’t get a goals for Newcastle. We have, inadvertently caught them with their trousers down. We have a major upgrade for half the price.
Absolutely superb. Surely we can manage that in the Cricket Field Stand

Newcastle paid the premium because of their new found wealth. "Toon Tax" if you like. That said, using the Wood fee as a bench mark, I would suggest we would already want £35 mill for Wout as he is class.Stayingup wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 11:37 amQuestion. A couple of pundits are saying that bigger clubs than Burnley should sign Weghorst, irrespective of whether or not Burnley are relegated. The question being if Wood was worth £25 million what would Weghorst be worth? He is a better footballer than Wood is and I would suggest has a better footballing brain. (Hackneyed comment that but suffices)
And the rest. But because he is ‘unvaccinated’ common sense will go out of the window, and clubs won’t sign him. Hopefully we can sign a few more unvaxxed class players like him in the summermybloodisclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 9:31 amNewcastle paid the premium because of their new found wealth. Looks very much like Wood took his comfort zone to Newcastle with him,he is playing worse than he was at the Turf.tiger76 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 11:10 pmSomething has definitely changed following Wood's departure, and it does make you wonder whether he was dragging the rest of the dressing room down with his lacklustre displays, now we finally look like a team fighting for one another, and prepared to scrap for every ball, which wasn't the case for some games in the first half of the season.
Wood wanted out, and it clearly showed in his tepid performances during his last few games, yes he was good for us, but it was time for him to move on, and if he ends up playing in the Championship with Newcastle, maybe he'll have found his comfort zone, and if that does transpire I for one will have a wry smile on my face.
Agree on Brownhill he's been totally transformed, but he's not the only one, the whole squad seems to be enjoying a whole new lease of life.

Howe has to play him no matter how bad he's playing...he cost him 25 MILLION,what I've seen of Newcastle games he still looks in his couldn't give a **** comfort zone....Eddie's trousers have been well and truly taken down,Wood won't get a sniff in the Newcastle team next season...he was fantastic for us but we well and truly mugged NewcastleSwizzlestick wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 11:45 amWood can’t be playing that badly considering NUFC are unbeaten since he’s been starting games. Hasn’t scored but he’s evidently doing something for the team cause. I do think we need to move on now especially because Wout looks to be the real deal
Couldn't agree more.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 10:04 amAnd the rest. But because he is ‘unvaccinated’ common sense will go out of the window, and clubs won’t sign him. Hopefully we can sign a few more unvaxxed class players like him in the summer
Pitch was very bobbly yesterday which limited any kind of quick one/two touch passing in the main. Hence why Cork struggled and we didn’t get it into WW’s feet as often.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 12:39 pmI like Wout, I think he is a clever talented footballer. Far better than Wood with the ball.
However I feel we would never have signed him had Wood stayed and also feel that Dyche didn't want to lose Wood at any cost.
After watching the Palace game my fear is that Dyche will revert to his Dycheball tactics and Wout will not be able to play to his strengths.
I hope Dyche doesn't just use him a an ariel target.
We’ve definitely had a result getting £25m but I do think he’s helping their other attacking players, even if it’s just by occupying defenders. Joelinton e.g. looks a rejuvenated player. Agree he’ll probably be out of the team next season but only because the Saudis will be throwing millions at it.Steve1956 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 11:54 amHowe has to play him no matter how bad he's playing...he cost him 25 MILLION,what I've seen of Newcastle games he still looks in his couldn't give a **** comfort zone....Eddie's trousers have been well and truly taken down,Wood won't get a sniff in the Newcastle team next season...he was fantastic for us but we well and truly mugged Newcastle
