Back pass!dsr wrote: ↑Fri Feb 18, 2022 12:38 pmThe day Burnley had a match postponed for wind (a steward was almost blown off the Longside Upper onto the Longside lower) was the day Colne played Sudbury in the FA Vase semi final. The game at Holt House was interesting, to say the least, especially with the wind blowing down the hill. One keeper caught his own goal kick (he was allowed to take it again).

If anyone is interested I'm selling a load of stuff off cheap tomorrow.
I've got 6 plastic buckets, 2 trampolines, 4 wheely bins, a bird feeder and 5 fence panels.
More stuff arriving all the time...

Re: Storm Eunice re Brighton match
I don't think it's Storm Eunice we should be concerned about as when that departs Storm Franklin will arrive soon after.

The Official Website are predicting the wind to be that strong, away fans might get blown all the way to Elland Rd!!

Re: Storm Eunice re Brighton match
I think the game should be called off, now.
Why wait until fans have struggled to get to the game, when in all likelihood it won't take place anyway.
We can't afford another postponement, and playing them without Dunk would be an advantage, but if the players have to tip toe down there on a coach, after the plane was kiboshed, they aren't going to be in the best of minds mentally.

I'm about 20 miles from the Amex and it has been very windy today. Damage in our garden, and a LOT of big trees down in the area. I hope for those that have travelled the weather improves and the game is on. Last thing we need is another game in hand.

Paul, allow extra time when using the a27 towards Falmer.Paul Waine wrote: ↑Thu Feb 17, 2022 11:14 pmRail travel won't be disrupted by Eunice. Rail from London to Brighton is being shut down, starting Saturday for a week of engineering works. Rail replacement buses to operate from Three Bridges all the way to Brighton, similarly, Lewes.
I'm driving. Looking forward to a windy game.

There doing crash barrier works at Falmer (down to one lane) both sides.. my god the queues are horrendous and that's without the extra football traffic.

I don't care if it makes me a bad person, there is something very funny about a bloke in a suit being blown across the floor in central London.

Re: Storm Eunice re Brighton match
Despite my 11-year old son pleading with me to take him, his Mum actually torpedoed any chance he had with her plans
That said, we were both at Southampton and Newcastle (pre-Covid fixtures) and the weather for both fixtures, during the Southampton game and travelling after the Newcastle game, was horrendous and there was never any hint of either game being off.

I'm at Preston Station and it's currently closed due to damage to the roof. Anyone planning a trip from here should check which services are affected
Re: Storm Eunice re Brighton match
Morning. Within 10 miles of the Amex and nothing happening.
Yesterday in battle the whole town lost electricity for the afternoon and we got sent home early.
Today nothing so far. I expect the wind off the sea is blowing old people down the road outside morrisons but that is fairly normal.

Am I right that the town of Battle that you mentioned is where the actual battle of Hastings was fought?
Not many people know that.

Looking at the BBC weather for Brighton it looks like a tail wind towards the ground so walking there should a breeze. Even better if you can take a skateboard then just use your coat as a sail and you'll be there in no time at all
