Re: Joey Beauchamp
Legend of the mid 90s Championship Manager games. That age is far too young to go.

Sad news. Was a good player. He scored against us in the 5-0 away loss at Oxford.

Awful news. I remember him ripping us to pieces a few times. Top player at that level. RIP.

I was there that day. As a 44 year old father of two, such things really do put a lot of things into perspective. RIP young man.jdrobbo wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 8:06 pmSad news. Was a good player. He scored against us in the 5-0 away loss at Oxford.

Re: Joey Beauchamp
Real star for Oxford and was one of their own.
This is desperately sad news to hear of someone so young passing away.

Inquest was heard today and seems Joey Beauchamp committed suicide, such sad news.
In Oxford's last home game £1 from every ticket sold was donated to mental health charity MIND.

You do wonder when someone so young dies suddenly. As you say, it’s so sad.claretburns wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 10:17 pmInquest was heard today and seems Joey Beauchamp committed suicide, such sad news.

Re: Joey Beauchamp
So sad. Something i feared had happened when you hear of someone of a relatively young age who dies suddenly with no history of medical issues. I had a similar fear just before Christmas when the son of a former work colleague and friend passed away suddenly - he was the former Manager of Burnley Fire Station and had joined GM Fire and Rescue. This was confirmed in the early part of this year where the inquest recorded he had taken his own life and left a wife and 2 teenage daughters.
If anyone contemplates taking this route, please please talk to someone about it.

So, so sad. I hope his brother is getting the right support, can't imagine how he's feeling now.
Re: Joey Beauchamp
Seems to be an unusually high number of deaths at relatively young ages. All are very very sad. RIP

Re: Joey Beauchamp
I know it's relatively common with men over 30 generally but I feel like the money and the highs that come with a career playing football together with the lows and loss of income after retirement greatly impact ex pros.
Not every player can go on to be a pundit or coach.

A study last year revealed that around 16% of former NFL players go bankrupt within 5 years of retirement, so it's not just footballers ...superdimitri wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 2:39 pmI know it's relatively common with men over 30 generally but I feel like the money and the highs that come with a career playing football together with the lows and loss of income after retirement greatly impact ex pros.

Obviously, the reduction in income after playing, failure to plan ahead, living " high on the hog " during your playing career are factors, and I suspect some ( and I emphasis " some " ) of the women that Footballers seem to attract/go for don't necessarily help ... as current events in the High Court seem to be proving ...
