Food recommendation - off the m65
I’m coming to the game tonight from a different direction than usual; via the m65. Can anyone recommend somewhere to get some sit down pub food prior to the game, we will drive closer to the ground to park after eating.
TIA
TIA

Depends what time you are coming through but the Darwin services have a really good Greggs if its still open. I would strongly recommend the Stake Bake to eat and a bottle of their Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade to drink. If you are really pushing the boat out than they do a great desert they call a Ginerbread Man

Either come off at Padiham and go to the Block. Wednesday is Burger and drink for a tenner or go the Padiham by pass and eat at the Fence Gate.kingarthur wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 10:28 amI’m coming to the game tonight from a different direction than usual; via the m65. Re: Food recommendation - off the m65
There aren’t many decent pub food type places in the centre of Burnley so you’d have to go a little out of your way. Waggoners is usually ok, and it’s not too far from the ground.kingarthur wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 10:28 amI’m coming to the game tonight from a different direction than usual; via the m65. I know you said pub food but I’d go Balleros personally, foods always decent enough, good beer and only a few miles from the ground.

Polazzo or Ballaro's in the centre or 1 of the places at Crow Wood.
If you are tempted with Sycamore Farm just get a pie on the match but s**t but the pie will be cheaper

Re: Food recommendation - off the m65
I’m a Darwen based claret and there’s a pub called the Willows which is decent, quite a good size so shouldn’t be an issue getting a table ,and I think it’s one of the chain type pubs, good, hearty food etc and not badly priced.
It’s only 30 seconds off the M65 junction, just head towards Blackburn hospital and you can’t miss it as it’s right facing you at the first set of lights.
The Turf is only about 25 mins from here too.

I'd say the Hapton Inn, but not sure if it is still open
Andre's mention of the Willows isn't a bad shout.
Standard "chain" food, but it's decent

Re: Food recommendation - off the m65
I tend to eat at the Ram Inn in Cliviger then it’s a short drive to the top of Townley and park where Townley High School used to be. You avoid the traffic if you go back the same way after the game. So it’s not near the M65 but nearer the ground and you come off the M65 at Hapton and head up Rossendsle Road towards Cliviger.
Re: Food recommendation - off the m65
There's a Brewers Fayre right next to junction 4 called Oakenhurst Farm. Might get some funny looks if you're wearing your colours, though.
Re: Food recommendation - off the m65
Waggoners , about 3 miles from the town, might need to book, but decent pub grub, not a chain
Postcode BB11 5NS
Bistro 197 Townley golf club, 2 miles from town, very good food would almost certainly need to book
Postcode BB11 3ED
Inghams diner, 3 miles from town, home made burgers, and classics like fish and chips, lasagne, etc etc
Postcode BB11 3RF
Kettledrum 3 miles from town, would have to book, good pub grub,
Postcide BB10 4RG
The Glen View , about 10 miles from Burnley, it's certainly good pub grub, looks a scruffy pub but it's good food for sure
Postcode OL13 7EW
Staff of Life, Todmorden, now this place is very good snd a but mire up market thsn the above looks wise, and a touch pricier, but not too bad.
OL14 8JF
Dont think you'd be disappointed by any of those, slightly out of town centre, and a nice easy drive to the game.
None of them are nationsl chains, so food is good,
Let us know where you went, and how it was

Another recommendation here for the Dog Inn at Belthorn. We ate there on Sunday afternoon and it was top notch. Three local real ales to choose from too.

I've removed a number of unacceptable, and potentially libellous threads from this thread. The OP was asking for advice, not to give people an opportunity to make the sort of comments I've been forced to remove about one establishment.
If you can't offer some advice, then keep off the thread.
