Cork/Brownhill
Cork/Brownhill
Are they the answer? Cork was written off by most but this is the combination that is actually getting results.

Brownhill’s confidence and assurance on the ball seems to be growing every game at the moment.

Another faultless performance from Brownhill. His last 5 performances, last 3 in particular, have been out of the very top drawer.

Which poster was it that really didn't rate Brownhill?
I did wonder if he had it in him to improve on the level he was at, but he's been fantastic this last 3 games against the top sides as well

Brownhill has really improved his attacking ability last three games.
This midfield partnership really looks to have got the balance right.
Best midfield performance we have had in almost 18 months. Great performance

I still think we are missing Westy’s hopeful, no-look punts upfield. What we have seen in the last two games is midfielders trying to play on the deck to Claret shirts, and guess what we have six points from two very tough matches. Weghorst has made a big difference though, he has transformed the way we play football going forward.

Last 3 games he's been outstanding, unrecognisable as a player. Against Liverpool he outdid Henderson at his own game.
Cork too is back to his best from nowhere. Would never have seen it coming, delighted he has.

Just a point, I didn't start this thread to knock Westwood at all. I think he's great, but how good is it to see Cork back to his best?

Both outstanding, again.
Westwood is a good option off the bench as well when he returns to fitness.

Re: Cork/Brownhill
Iv been very vocal in saying I thought Cork was finished so credit where it’s due these last two games he’s been superb and deserves to keep the shirt. Iv always thought Brownhill would be a good un but for the last 4/5 games he’s really been impressive, snapping into tackles and having an impact in the final third as well, superb.

Not necessarily, I just wonder, on a night of probably one of the best performances of the season you have a sly pop at someone who wasn’t even on the pitch.
Just be happy we won for chrissake.

It’s great to see Cork back at the level we all knew he could play. We needed a dramatic turn round in form from all the players and currently we’re getting that. Great stuff! There is hope!

The whole team structure has been improved by Weghorst and how we are playing is being taken on by pretty much every player. Cork and Brownhill played well again tonight and the same could be said of every other outfield player. No passengers at all. Great team spirit and no little skill. Very impressive.

Confidence is flowing through the team at present.
Josh Brownhill epitomises that confidence.
Is it the "Wout Syndrome" or has Sean taken everyone out of their "comfort zones"

Wood won many headers but flicked it forward to no one or laid it off to the opposition. Wout finds a man everytime & brings players into play.

They are playing well together. Weghorst is the catylist to me for our surge in form and we are at last getting a fair rub of the green.

It just rankles when this guy comes on here slating both Brownhill and Collins, he also accused Alan Pace of pocketing the Chris Wood transfer money.
He isn't changing his spots he is just trying to wriggle out of an embarrassing situation.

Re: Cork/Brownhill
I really like Westwood, but on the back of these last two performances will he walk straight back in or have to wait, personally I'd like to see him have to wait as I think these two deserve a chance to continue to flourish, at least for the next game. It's a funny old world, how many times have we seen things we don't want lead to an improvement, Pope and McNeil spring to mind immediately.

Re: Cork/Brownhill
Cork and Brownhill were immense tonight.
Brownhill is almost like the proverbial new signing and that little pocket in the first half where he twice twisted and turned his way out of a tight spot was great to watch.
Cork did a lot of the spade work and put in such a great shift that he looked to be running on fumes towards the end.

When Brownhill put Bentancur on his arse so comprehensively he actually injured himself. Not that I’m taking any pleasure in the injury. Brilliant from Brownhill. MOTM.

Re: Cork/Brownhill
There is a very different feel to the Burnley team and the way they play these days. Much of this has to be credited to the manager Sean Dyche who shows his value in the way he allows his players to express themselves on the field once he has his strongest players out.
That has not been the case for the whole of the first half of the season due to injuries and the need to settle in new signings gradually. No players more than Cork and Brownhill demonstrate this more as Cork emerges as a leader and Brownhill recognises the strengths of a new striker coming back to support him.
It's working at the moment and there is little indication that it will stop working .

Re: Cork/Brownhill
Our best midfield 2, and I’ve been saying it since August. Luckily they’ve been given a run due to Westwood getting covid and they’re making the most of it. Can’t believe I’m saying this but we’re staying up!!!
Re: Cork/Brownhill
Westwood slows the game down so much more with his sideways/back passes
These two guys actually look to move the ball forward at every opportunity
They also clearly have a confidence in playing the ball up to WW on the ground
They look up for the forward pass whereby Westy tends to hoof it up blindly (as others have said)
This pairing needs to start on Sat
But, we also need strengthening in this area next summer

Not at all, merely calling it how I see. I think Brownhill has been consistently poor for the last two years, however I think the last three games he has dramatically improved his game and that’s why he’s getting the credit where it’s due.
I would go as far as saying he has been unrecognisable in recent games, passing has improved, he’s getting forward and finally contributing in attack. The stats support that thesis.

Re: Cork/Brownhill
Hard to drop either right now, and another assist for Brownhill last night won't do his confidence any harm will it. He's always worked hard, but now he's finally adding an end product to his game, excellent to see at long last.

Blimey....real competition for places in the team!
Re: Cork/Brownhill
Not sure if it was me, but I have mentioned it. Up until a few games ago I found him reactive to play. I am more than happy to say, and have been doing, that he is really impressing at the moment. He pirouetted around one of the Liverpool players the other week and it seems to have unlocked another level from him, with his ball control being first class and spotting dangers before the opposition spots the pass.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 9:32 pmWhich poster was it that really didn't rate Brownhill?
