Re: Russia Invades
The thought of Putin putting his "nuclear deterrent" forces on high alert is very worrying as surely no leader of sound mind could truly believe NATO would launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike against Russia (or any country for that matter)

I am right and I agree he probably is that crazy but he will have to go through a procedure similar to what the US president would to launch something even if he is crazy. Cumbria was pretty clear on the maps I saw just so you know.
Too answer your question Nuclear war doesn’t hugely scare me for myself at least no partly because I don’t think it will come to that but also I spent half my life preparing for that eventuality. It does however scare me for my kids I am petrified that they won’t live the full life that they deserve but I can’t control that sadly let’s just see what happens.

Yes a very interesting point they are making a pigs ear of this invasion and it is proving very costly though surely they couldn’t afford another 1 at the same time.

People really need to chill out , stop sh1tting themselves and ffs keep away from Twitter . It’s just so full of sh1t it defies belief at times like this . Full of “ facebook” generals and “sas” vets . However vile this sh1t show is , Vlad will very shortly achieve one of his main objectives, his invasion is almost “ textbook “ ( despite the obvious bravery of the defenders ) and then perhaps tension can drop a notch

Re: Russia Invades
Just got to stress this
Either Putin gets some sort of "win" (enough for him to save face) or he gets removed from power
The longer this goes on, the more dangers for all of us, especially if it looks like Putin (and others, the Belarussian bloke for example) might lose
They know they won't survive that, and the danger is that they will do anything to avoid that

And the EU providing aircraft
That will be Russian made Mig-29 and Su-25s from airforces like Poland and Romania
Course, it will depend on whether Ukraine has the pilots or the maintenance crews to use them, but its still absolutely jaw dropping
I just can't believe the past 72 hours to be perfectly honest

Re: Russia Invades
Very much typical of the Wests attempts to curry favour. Neither Russia nor China will ever trust the West. Some of the goings on in the 60’s and 70’s, us turning a blind eye to American lies out of necessity… they euphemistically called it “dis-information” but its the unfinished business China has to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and of course Vietnam. We were on the wrong side of history on that…Cubanforever wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 8:48 pmI believe we've been pushing for Ukraine in Nato for few years but it's been blocked by other member states...bet they are kicking themselves now
But if Putin is the history buff he pretend to be even in his corrupt mind he must be making sure the Luger is tucked in his desk drawer about now.

Massive explosion in Cherkasy.
Thermobaric.
Big escalation on behalf of Russia.
First time I’ve seen them used so far.

They used them in Syria, especially against Aleppo
Pretty sure its a terror weapon, its not going to make a huge difference to the military capability of the Ukrainians
But its an escalation, and one that isn't going to help calm things down

Re: Russia Invades
That guy has subsequently withdrawn that tweet and suggested that sadly it isn’t the case.
On the wider issue, general observation, hard to see how either Putin or the West backs down, I expect him to cause a real mess in Kyiv, install a puppet government but face years of insurgency. I expect the West to keep sanctions in place and China to face a dilemma whether to bale them out or not. I don’t think China will, they love the moral high ground and will probably “do a Switzerland”. That will be terrible for Russia economically so we will have huge uncertainty until Russia choose to elect a new President. All the while, China get richer and more powerful. Not a cheery prospect.

Unless a huge arms depo has been hit.

If it is thermobaric, I imagine the Ukrainians will be very quick to try and prove this, and to evidence the escalation.

One of the things not often mentioned in the West is China’s Mao based Communism is VERY DIFFERENT from Leninism. China and Russia have been on the verge of War many times since their revolutions… China is very far from a done deal for Russia.

It’s possible (probable) that Putin is ‘seriously mentally ill’ and needs sectioning under some sort of Russian mental health act. The Russian members of parliament must take responsibility and trigger the process that removes him from office.
