Re: Russia Invades
There have been so many videos.
The one of the two unarmed guys who walked up to soldiers at a factory. Talked to them and when they were walking away two soldiers opened fire on them. They knew they were unarmed and still shot them in the back, all on video.
The two grand parents who Were shot by a BTR.
The Russian soldier who released a video of him taping a baby, I didn’t see it or try to find it. But it was all over social media at the time.
He was named and I think KIA days later.
Plus Loads more.
I can think of one report where Ukrainians were said to have shot POWs and Zelensky said it would be investigated and it better not be repeated.

There will be a lot that have suffered at the hands of Ukrainian guns as well it is the sad consequence of war. Not as many as have suffered at the hands of the Russians no doubt.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 11:45 pmLet’s just say there are a lot of Ukrainian women and children who have suffered at the hands of the Russians. No Russian women and kids have been harmed as far as I have read.
I am on the Ukrainian side but I need to see fairness we can’t just report on 1 side and ignore the other. I get hugely frustrated with the reports that come out of Gaza and the West Bank when the Israelies have done an attack for example. It is normally so one sided focussing on the deaths of civilians which is tragic. What we don’t always see is the SAM site on top of Hospitals, communication facilities inside Schools etc. that are deliberately placed there by the militant groups to either protect them or create propaganda when they are hit.
Both sides of the current conflict have done bits of this I can remember quite early on a shopping center being hit by the Russians and the being a massive reaction in the international community over it. it turned out later that the Ukrainians had been putting military vehicles in it turning it into a legitimate target was just 1 example off the top of my head.

The Ukrainians have captured a T90M MBT it seems it was abandoned as it had thrown a track. Now track bashing is a pain and very dirty work for anyone who hasn’t done it on here, but I would never contemplate abandoning a Tank because it’s track had come off madness.
Edit: maybe it tells us how quickly the Russians had too run away

I think there's a lot of western interest in examining this to see what the kit is all about (and maybe which western producers have been involved in supplying components).

It’s all sounding very bad at the moment.
Let see how this plays out over the next couple of weeks.
But it’s looking like Russia is going to go all out to win this, Europe isn’t getting any gas any time soon unless it gives up Ukraine.

Thing is, you can mobilise all you want, but you still have to train and equip the people you mobilize

On the other hand, Erdogan is reportedly saying that Putin wants the war to end "soon", based on meetings at the recent conference attended by them (and the Chinese and the -stan states of Asia)
It is still very hard to read what is going on in Russia

Re: Russia Invades
As I understand it Russia called this 'a Special Military Operation' in order to not declare a war.
Once they declare a war they can have full mobilisation, calling up reservists with past military experience. This could increase troop levels but they still have the issue of equipment and up to date training. It will also have a bad effect on their economy as men are removed from their work. It may also have a bad effect on the civilian morale.
This also means that current recruitment measures aren't working well enough.
I wonder if the recent meetings with China, behind closed doors of course, yielded some benefit to Russia that they feel able to escalate the situation.

China and its economy will be affected by this, and this is the last thing they need with the continuing COVID issues affecting their supply chains

The fact that no one outside Russia could possibly believe that hogwash doesn't matter. He is losing face, and is desperate enough to cross any line to win. Our only hope is that there are enough sane Russians to prevent him.
Sadly in Russia of today those with the ability to stop him are bound to him, so basically it's stuffed.
I'm prepared for anything to help Ukraine win. A Putin victory would be a setback for civilisation throughout the world. I hope NATO has the ********, and the foresight to tell him that any use of Nukes in Ukraine will be crossing a line that NATO won't tolerate, and would be met with a similar response from them.

Re: Russia Invades
If he is going for mobilisation that's surely a sign that not many people are signing up voluntarily. So I can't imagine many Russians being overjoyed at the chance to become cannon fodder with poor equipment and supply chains. What are the chances that this could seriously ramp up pressure on him from within if there is significant resistance from people in terms of going to fight?

Problem is that Russian information control is so overwhelming that not even the inhabitants of Izyum knew that the Russians were essentially losing the ground war and had no idea that Ukrainian forces were so close
If its like that in Izyum, then in places deep in Russia, absolutley no one will have a clue what is going on outside of what they see on Russian TV

Zaporizhzia governor (75% controlled by Russia) declares independence
Pretty sure how this is going to work
They will all declare independence with huge majorities, then Russia will invite them to join the Russian Federation, then Russia will declare victory
Course, it won't change anything, and Russia will become even more diplomatically isolated, but this is where Putin and Russia are at the moment

I know Putin is living in self isolation, but even he can't be daft enough to think that Ukraine are going to stop fighting now.
They are getting stronger, Russia are weaker, if they weren't prepared to negotiate 6 months ago, there isn't a cat in hells chance now.
Even his partial mobilisation won't work, it takes too long to train them, they aren't as well drilled, and they've got very little arms left to give them.
imo he is just seeking an internal excuse to use nukes in Ukraine, which is why it is so important that NATO let him know what the consequences of that will be. It still wouldn't stop him, but it might stop some of his Generals.

Re: Russia Invades
Re mobilisation the first wave will be people who have served in the military previously and as they have National Service (?) that’s likely to be quite a lot of personnel.
Therefore it won’t take quite so long to have them “oven ready” ?
Perhaps some of our military experts can comment on this.

In terms of conventional army maybe but not if you throw in the nuclear element. Even though they are subjected to brainwashing surely Russian people can see through the contradictions. Claim that they have only lost 6000 men and yet they need to mobilise? All going to plan yet the need to wave his nuclear cock around?1882Clarets1882 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 21, 2022 8:26 amIt used to be said that the Russian army was the 2nd most powerful army in the world.
