New big screen and PA system
Does anyone know if the replacement big screen is in place yet? Also has there been any news on repair of the public address system. I must admit that I missed them both on Tuesday night.

Re: New big screen and PA system
I liked the lack of PA system on Tuesday, made it feel more like a proper football match. I come to watch football not to listen to crap music and Ian in the stands.
It was great being able to have a conversation with those around us as well without being drowned out.

I fully agree regards the music, but I missed the important announcements and the team info. In particular it diminished the ability to join in and support the Ukraine people.

I certainly didn't miss the very loud music played right up to the ko which seems to be played to prevent any pre-match atmosphere being generated!

I used to enjoy the tannoy system in the 1980’s. You’d get a little bit of information, but at half time they’d normally play music. Nowadays there are so many things they’re trying to sell you I’d rather it be turned off.

Totally agree, clubs seem determined to drown out any support being shown before a match and then try to orchestrate it when the teams come out. I can remember going to the old Anfield when there was chanting for a good half hour before the teams came out. No music. Made for a terrific atmosphere.

Keep the screen, axe the PA would be my take on it.
Far too intrusive on a footy match.

Entering the turf whilst the opening chords to ‘Times Like These’ ring out around the ground gives me goosebumps.

The missing team announcement meant no cheer for each of our heroes.
No announcement of subs or additional minutes.
Poor.

Re: New big screen and PA system
What's with the pointless 'live feed' on the new screens during the game?
It's so small it can't be seen clearly unless you're sat almost on top of the screen.
The teamsheet format we have become used to cannot be displayed at a large enough font size to be useful anymore.
The pre match video looked excellent though.
IMO, the screens are not large enough (height wise) to do what they were purchased for.
Many may disagree.

Re: New big screen and PA system
Totally agree with you. Impossible to read the teams when they are listed because of the size/font. When they interviewed (THE ONE AND ONLY) Jordan North we were told the details for donating was on the screens. Couldn’t read them. Don’t know how much they’ve cost but they are not fit for purpose.Goody1975 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 10:30 pmWhat's with the pointless 'live feed' on the new screens during the game?

Re: New big screen and PA system
I think they've realised that the font is too small, so moved away from listing the teams during the game on Saturday.
What they've replaced it with is even worse.
The screen listed just one team at once prior to the game and it was excellent but it's obvious that both teams can't be shown together due to the dimensions. I dread to think what they cost..

The donation details were on the electronic boards around the pitch which is perhaps what they meant to say.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 10:35 pmTotally agree with you. Re: New big screen and PA system
They did once briefly show both teams during the second half, with the lineups having full names rather than just the surnameGoody1975 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 10:48 pmI think they've realised that the font is too small, so moved away from listing the teams during the game on Saturday.

Re: New big screen and PA system
Well on the bright side, I could see the screen to tge left of the Longside (if you are in the Longside) and for the first time, I could see the teams, as they were large font and used the whole screen.
Agree the in match wee live feed is pointless. Whole screen or nothing.
More height would have been the right outcome, of course.

I’m not against all the fancy dan new lighting and slightly unnecessary paint jobs but they seem pretty ridiculous wastes of money when the PA system is still absolutely useless

They'd definitely turned it up in the JH but it sounded even worse louder - about the quality of listening to Radio Caroline on a transistor radio in 1968.

Re: New big screen and PA system
The new screens are next to useless.
They can't show the teams in any kind of readable font during the game and so have resorted to a picture in picture situation which is like watching next doors 32 inch TV through their front window.

Re: New big screen and PA system
I thought that the timeline on the LEDs, in sync with the Times Like These video was a nice touch. First time I’ve thought that they’d utilised the possibilities the boards bring.
A long way to go to get it right but a step in the right direction.

You can't hear the tannoy in the JML.
The announcer could be asking us to evacuate due to a fire and no one would know.

I don’t understand how the club still has its licence when the PA in the JM is inaudible, if there was an incident and it needed evacuating no one would know

Just about to hear how Horace Betchworth can help you win the pools and then Keynsham, Bristol suddenly springs into the ear, after a hiss gap.
By the way, that is K E Y N S H A M - KEYNSHAM - BRISTOL!

On the subject of the screens, I thought I had good eyesight until these appeared. They had the teams up at times on Saturday which I found impossible to read, and as for the PA; it's non league.
