... back in the day when a touch of snow wasn't enough to cancel a game against Spurs!

Happy birthday to Andy - a true Claret legend.

Happy Birthday Andy.

Does he still attend the games? A few years ago he was always on the pitch before kick-off as a match day host.

Happy Birthday Andy, one of those who came well before my time, but one who's Clarets contribution can't be underestimated.

His numbers are crazy, not far off 1 in 2, scored 5 goals on 2 occasions, and also the small matter of 4 against Utd in a 6-1 win.

I never knew he was born in Milngavie, that's just a few miles down the road from us.

What we'd give for a forward like him nowadays, he'd command upwards of £30-40m in today's market, and rightly so with his record.

January 1963 was hardly 'a touch of snow' but I take your point. Horrendous winter. And of course happy birthday to Andy; as tough a centre forward as I think I've seen. Chatting to former Man City goalie, Joe Corrigan, a number of years back at Sharm el Sheik Airport and he was in no doubt about the toughest player he'd ever played against.

Sad to hear that. Can still see Dino Panzanato stamping on his head at the Cricket Field end against Napoli. Not sure if I got the name right but Andy didn’t let even such an attack stop him

You have got the name right.

He told Andy that he would kill him in the second leg, Andy said: “You won’t, you’re xxxxxxx suspended.”

FCBurnley, do you not remember Andy lodging at Mrs Harvey's house, in the middle of the block you lived in, when we were kids.

I certainly do and Brian O’Neill. They used to climb in thru the bedroom window via the air raid shelter in the back yard. Those were the days lol

Great watch that. What a team we had then, I am sure anyone of them would improve our current team. I would love to see my own hero of that team, John Connelly playing in modern day football.

remember going to old trafford in the 60s andy scored two headed goals, we left when we were 2 nil up with just injury time to play, needless to say when we picked up the sports pink in the centre of manchester it read 2-2, nothing changes, 8 minutes of injury time.
