Non League Football

Post by claretburns » Thu Mar 24, 2022 8:33 am

With it being Internationals this weekend which non league grounds around the country are you going to? Normally I hope for Halifax to be at home but they're away at King's Lynn so at moment I can't go to any.

My new home town of Kendal are playing at home on Saturday against City of Liverpool.

Sadly, Kendal were relegated last week after a 1-0 defeat away to Prescot Cables.

A lot of upset Kendal fans due to an apparently poor management/running of the club. Although of course that's just what I've read so have no real understanding of what's been going on.

£9 gets you a match ticket, a pint and pie and peas.

I have taken to following Bradford Park Avenue's fortunes, largely down to my loathing of Bradford City and the fact that Bulls are my RL team. I catch BPA's matches on YouTube highlights every week. There is a huge gap in quality between the Conference National and Conference regional.

Buxton away to Witton Albion.
Hopefully consolidating top spot by the final whistle. :)

I'll be on AR duty at Penistone Church.

Sheffield and Hallamshire County Senior League, Premier Division.

PC Reserves vs Swinton Athletic.

Three pm kick off, if you're free! :-)

My local non league side, if it was the first team I'd be there. The no-nonsense, common sense officiating at that level is great.

My local team Altrincham v Aldershot. Buy one ticket get one free ( I say, ya buy one, ya...) on production of a National lottery ticket for Saturdays draw.

Also Aldershots designated "awayday", they're meant to be bringing 500 fans.

Ashington v Newton Aycliffe --a game between 6th and 7th in the Northern League Division 1.
Ashington had been going great until a run of 3 successive league defeats has seen them drop down from 3rd to 7th in the table. Goals are almost guaranteed with 88 scored on 20 matches at Woodhorn Road.

Actually it may be that clubs are do their own thing on this day. My local club is doing the above but I see Bognor Regis, in the same league, have set a cheaper admission price for those in the ground before 1400.

Basingstoke Town v Bedfont Sports for me, Isthmian League-South Central (tier 8). A promotion hopefuls clash - 5th v 4th. Top of the table is already decided (Bracknell Town) but there will be play-offs to establish a 2nd promoted team to go up to Isthmian Premier.

The previous highest home league attendance here this season was 810 (though 914 for a Hampshire Cup clash with Portsmouth). I think that will be beaten given: importance of the game, no top leagues footy and the nice spring weather.

A nice 25 minutes each way walk for me and a ticket for £7 as an oldie. I also like being able to wander round the ground and stand to watch in varying spots whilst nattering with a range of other spectators.

I live near Navigation Road Tram stop, been here about 8 years. Watch Alty quite often, really enjoy it. TBH probably enjoyed it more when they were a couple of levels lower. National league this season has exploded with regards to attendances.

I'm just off Park Road in Timperley. Yeah I preferred it lower league, mainly so you can have a pint from Libero when the match is on!

Parky has them playing some decent stuff now, enjoyable to watch.

Yeah totally agree, great to watch with a pint in hand. Playing very well, especially at home. Good young manager. They're going full-time next season. Looking forward to Wrexham away over Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Not a great game but Padiham beat Burscough 2v0, at half time there only looked like one side would win but a good win.
Think there’s only one game left this season, Captain Brownhill will one and always nice when your substitution bring a goal.

Great day, beers, sun and laughs, + a healthy a crowd

I think both teams at the Arbories agreed to finish the game early due to one of the Burscough players having a serious leg injury.

Hope he has a good recovery.

I wasn't there but Wrexham 6 Dover 5 sounds a corker, and Dover were 5-2 up at one stage.

Bury clinched the NWCL First division North title today and with it promotion to the Premier with a 4-0 win at home to St Helens. Think that puts them in with Padiham..if Padiham stay up.

Is that the reformed Bury?, if so congrats to them, and I hope they continue making their way up the leagues.

Their story and Macclesfield's is testimony to just how important football clubs are to their communities, and I sincerely hope both can regain their FL places over the next few seasons.

It is indeed. I've been to three of their games this season with a Bury supporting friend. Away at Darwen and Nelson and a home game at Radcliffe against Holker Old Boys.
They are in discussions with the other fan group that has acquired Gigg Lane with a view to merging the groups and moving the already formed team back home.

That's good news then. Last time i looked they were down near the bottom so I assume they've pulled away with a bit to spare.
