Nick Pope
Made some great stops today.
Though from my view in the JHL, the second went straight through him?

I'm in the JMU and thought it took a slight deflection off Long I thinkdougcollins wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 7:17 pmMade some great stops today.

Re: Nick Pope
Definite deflection, he was behind it before the touch took it wide, nothing he could do.
Re: Nick Pope
Pope superb. Long did not let us down. Second goal took a deflection off Long.

Re: Nick Pope
Ah right. Pretty sure the first took a deflection also?
Always seems to happen with City.

Re: Nick Pope
But why oh why did he persist with kicking the ball instead of rolling it out to a defender? If he could kick well I could maybe understand it and yes some may say kicking rather than playing out from the back is all about staying on the right side of the percentages but when we are 2-0 surely we needed to try something different? Pope often doesn’t see his defenders making themselves available for a ball to be rolled to them. He is often far too slow of thought.

Re: Nick Pope
Much as I about Long, the stats show a good win and draw ration in the 50 odd games he has played in, which pleasantly surprised me

Re: Nick Pope
Carport : maybe he'd been told to go long seeing as city are so good at pressing .

Re: Nick Pope
Kevin Long has been a wonderful servant for the Club, always there when called upon and, even after all these years, has kept himself fit enough to step up against the likes of Citeh.
As for Nick Pope. Best keeper for England at present.

Re: Nick Pope
When we get forced to defend so deep keeping goal gets so much more difficult.
