Fans today
Amazed how quiet the City fans were, equally surprised how many empty seats in the home stands and how quiet we were.
Hope it’s a different situation Wednesday

Would you get excited watching a training session!!!

Re: Fans today
It’ll be different on Wednesday because that game means a hell of a lot more. Both the home and away fans were expecting a comfortable City win today and much of that second half was like a training session, in fact when the sun was shining I felt like I was at a cricket match.
On Wednesday night the Turf needs to be electric, and I expect it will be.

Re: Fans today
last chance saloon on Weds, 3 points or bust and the fans need to drive the team in the first 20 mins for sure. Hardly ever a Burnley game where I left with a voice, need 18000 like that.
Re: Fans today
Even the City fans were bored it was that easy.

I’d be bored watching city every week

Re: Fans today
City’s style of play isn’t what’s boring, it’s the knowing the outcome before the match has kicked off
At least when you play someone other than City or Liverpool, you know there is a chance of getting something from the game

City have very talented players but why do they insist on play acting and feigning injury if an opponent blows on them
Pawson was weak as water not punishing these antics or booking Ake for constantly climbing all over his opponent. How this clown gets into an England team is beyond me.Hes a poor man's Grant Hanley

To be fair, most other games I’ve seen them in this year, with the exception of Norwich, Watford and us, they’ve been given a good game. For example, Palace beat them at home 2-0 and then recently drew 0-0 at Selhurst. Southampton also took points off them with excellent performances.

You have to look like you want the ball to get a free kick. Jump to win it and you get a free kick every time stand there and the opposition has every right to jump over you to win the ball. Wout was lucky to stay on he looked for Rodri and hit him under the chin with his arm.

Re: Fans today
I saw a tweet where someone was saying we should be relegated because our fans never sung one chant. It'd be hard to explain to other fans, particularly those of the big clubs, that a game like yesterday's just isn't enjoyable. Pep weighed us up years ago and we haven't altered our tactics in any way since, in fact we've been weakend by having a lack of any creative players. Not only has the football been poor for a couple of seasons, but we're staring relegation in the face, and playing against a team who must think we're the easiest rollover each season they face us.
As above, it's a training session for City, and I genuinely think our players thought the same when it got to 2-0 (albeit Jay and Max added some fight when they came on).
The real test will be Wednesday, and if our fans don't make an atmosphere for that one, then I'd be inclined to agree with the Twitter post

Re: Fans today
If Everton win today will put a real dampener on the atmosphere Wednesday.
Re: Fans today
Hopefully goes to form as Everton have the worst away record in the PL and West Ham one of the best home records.

Re: Fans today
There was not one ounce of fight in the squad. The performance was cowardly. I think the cricket style atmosphere was quite restrained, it could have been very toxic. I think the fans have been quite good this season. Can you imagine many other fans being so understanding with the last 40 games? Any other set of fans turn up at Brentford away watch abject neck high dross from the team and still stay to applaud off?
My gut feeling is the burble of quiet chatter should have been a sign to Dyche that the players needed a public bollocking. This season is pretty much done, connect with the fans and rebuild. At least acknowledge that he is watching the same game as the fans. That performance was unacceptable. There are ways to lose. The demands on the players on Wednesday are going to be very high. They have to perform. Any more cowardice and the Turf will be very unpleasant for our own players. Rightly so. They've been given a pass for practically a season and half. Now is time to show and repay our patience.

Re: Fans today
Hardly cowardly....we had a decent chance in the first few seconds, it went wide, City scored and then passed us to death.
So we spend 70 odd minutes chasing shadows and get picked off at will leading to a huge drubbing ?
Much better to keep it as tight as possible, damage limitation, and then play on Wednesday and Sunday as if our lives depend on it. Press high, get stuck in and play with pace.

Re: Fans today
It was pure cowardice. Zero intensity or passion. We did not chase shadows. We failed to chase. City missed several easy chances and were at half pace with the ECL on Tuesday in mind. Pope made good saves. It could easily have been a drubbing. It was abysmal and we didn't compete. There are ways to lose and yesterday was shameful. Not bothered about the scoreline, I am bothered about the performance. No heart, no fight, no desire.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 11:45 amHardly cowardly....we had a decent chance in the first few seconds, it went wide, City scored and then passed us to death.

And, once that first goal went in, absolutely no point in chasing a lost cause.
I'll agree with you if the performances against Everton and Naaaaarch are of similar standard but there's not a chance in hell of that.

Re: Fans today
Our fans have been good this season considering what we have been subjected to. The atmosphere hasn’t turned toxic at any point and at our biggest game of the season at Brentford were fantastic throughout.
Yesterday was a pointless game, our fans new it, as did City’s. If West Ham can beat Everton today I’d expect a fantastic atmosphere under the lights on Wednesday night.

Re: Fans today
Fail to compete because of the fear of failure is cowardly. I really hope you are right though. I was OK until Brentford but the team look disinterested and I can usually see positives in the performances that have yielded nothing eg. Brighton at home. I really don't get fussed by scoreline because it is the EPL and the players are elite, a small slip up can be costly. Yesterday's performance was abject and the Brentford away game was only marginally better.
They were backed at Brentford and they will be against Everton but they need to turn up. I expect missed tackles/lack of a press/failure to track/hoof ball shite to Wout will attract a vociferous negative response. We need them to play like it is a derby.

Re: Fans today
We fans need to buck up on Wednesday. Anything but a red hot, intimidating, atmosphere and we are sunk.
The so called choir and locals in the Cricket Field who think they are the Longside, need to turn up at least!
They failed yesterday.
We can get 20 points, if our potential is realised. No big teams to play.

Weren't cowardly tonight. Some real grit in that performance. Those pens were soft as so to keep in there and stick with it was excellent.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 12:27 pmAnd, once that first goal went in, absolutely no point in chasing a lost cause.

No voice today.
Atmosphere was fantastic towards the end and after we equalised. Understandably patchy and edgy earlier in the game.
We need more of that throughout the season but inevitably need the players to lift us with the performances too.

The atmosphere was certainly better in the lower longside/JM stand area than it has been for a while.

By the end, the ground was full on rocking and that is just what the players needed to keep them going.
I am sure the Norwich away support will do their bit then Turf Moor.

I thought we were in for some bad luck when I had to park on Ormerod Rd when (the Dibble decided) Belvedere Rd was going to be a coach park. So we couldn't park in our usual spot (Tennis Club)
Yet no coaches were parked from the Cricket field up to the Fire Station.
So a totally pointless exercise in idiocy from our wonderful boys in blue... surprised they didn't have a Helicopter up to waste more money etc etc.
But our fears were unfounded ...
So it was great to see the passion back in the Longside/Cricket field/Jimmy Mac/Bob Lord stands ...Also the passion was back with the lads on the field as seen and heard by Popes words here "we're not ****ing dead yet" after the match.

Agreed Bosscat. I am in NU5 just below the cameras. All good.
The parking a hassle and lots of cars, in both directions, on the roads off. Woodentops for sure. You would think there would be a phone call! How many hooligans how many coaches?
Turf Moor in full voice is a very happy place!
I played the Corries and the WolfeTones on the way home, on Spotify. Both ended up playing Wild Rover and so I was singing full throttle on the M6/M5!
