Everton’s team weds
Is going to be missing both Keane and Mina. I see this as the last throw of the dice to rescue our season. If we fail to win weds we deserve to go down.

Re: Everton’s team weds
We have to beat them, they're on a downward spiral and we need to keep that going for them.
Leeds are 9 points ahead of us, but we have 3 games in hand, but a failure to beat Everton would be bad for us.
Not even a draw would be enough.

After watching that game today and there fixture list. I genuinely believe that if we get 3 points on Wednesday we have a half decent chance of staying up.
It’s got to be three points though, anything less and we will struggle to catch them.

Re: Everton’s team weds
Its insane how a route out is still possible considering we’ve only won three games, but, there is one. I think we’re down as our performances do nothing to suggest we can win 4/5 of our remaining games as would be required - but you can’t discount the possibility. Everton look bereft of anything and if we were to somehow win, they would be terrified. Our fixtures are also much, much nicer than theirs.

Re: Everton’s team weds
Every team we have played this season who have been on a downward spiral have managed to do ok against us. Every one so far. I have seen nothing recently that would change the way our results are going. We have lost our way. We looked like we’d found it again for a few games, but we put it down and now we don’t know where we’ve left it.
We have to win on weds, we have to beat Norwich, and we have to get a couple of surprise wins from the others and some decent draws if we are to save this season. Not impossible…. But highly unlikely.
We deserve to be where we are, and I am resigned to us losing our PL status.

Re: Everton’s team weds
A draw would be a disappointment but not the end. Everton's run in is a shocker, if they get much from any of the games after us, they'll be lucky.
We have to go into Wednesday's game, though, as if our lives depend on it with all areas of the team playing their part.
A win would leave us a point behind them and I'd back us to do better than them in the final games even if we draw.
Everton, no doubt, will come to avoid defeat at all costs and will try to do us on the break.
We need to be aggressive, and forceful but not completely gung ho.

Should be great atmosphere ( a real rarity this season ) and I’d make us slight favs, home advantage and playing for our lives . A win and it’s very much game on .

If we could hand pick a midweek fixture as things stand it would be Everton at home. Mind you, given a choice, Everton might well pick us too.
Wednesday is a great opportunity to drag ourselves right back in with a serious chance to survive, but as mentioned already, I think it realistically is a must-win.

They were so so lucky to get 3 points in their last game against Newcastle too. We’re due a moment of luck I reckon.

We've also got to finish ahead of Watford who have home games against Leeds, Brentford and us still to come. A draw is not the end off the but it isn't then just a shootout between us and Everton and so we cant just pin our hopes on their difficult run inevensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 4:07 pmA draw would be a disappointment but not the end. Re: Everton’s team weds
And the tactics, and the team talk.
But I’m seriously concerned that he won’t. He’ll select the team that have been failing, but he’ll believe he has it right. Thing is, this is a results based game, and if we are keeping it simple, the team, the tactics and the team talk are only right if you win the games that you absolutely have to. If you don’t win them, then you’ve got it wrong. Trouble is, if you are in the mindset that your way is the only way, (and I get that the most successful of people need to have a certain amount of self belief) and you refuse to budge when the poor results and performances are staring you in the face, well then you absolutely get what you deserve.
I hope he does something, ANYTHING. I don’t want to slip away with a whimper, at least have a bloody go at it.

Now the mighty Leeds are comfortably safe (just like I told they would be) and Eddie Howe and Trips are safe (never in doubt once they bagged Eddie) I can turn my attentions to my #3 team - Burnley.
Unfortunately Im not quite as confident about Burnley staying up which given my expert football knowledge (especially compared to you and most others on here) is not the news you really wanted to hear. Sorry about that but thats just the hard reality of the situation

Re: Everton’s team weds
Good to see Keane has done us a favour again.
We’ve got to play Cornet wide left and get Wout up top with Jay Rod no messing about.
Cork and Brownhill in centre mid, McNeil and Westwood benched them maybe we have a chance . I’d also bring Lowton back in at right back.
We have got to raise the intensity to have any chance on Wednesday passing the ball to feet.

Re: Everton’s team weds
It’s all in our favour on Wednesday now with two key Evertonians suspended and Mina still injured. Then we factor in 24 hours less rest (something that has stuffed us more than once recently, and, come next Sunday, may do again, so we are due a turn).
We need to stay confident and remember that rather than talk about 3 wins (the 12 draws is a much better stat) we were not too long ago saying we haven’t lost a game apart from City away when Cornet has played 60+ minutes.
We need to beat Everton then win at Norwich. If we can do that, we could be clear of Everton who have a shocking run in and could be five clear of Watford and still with a game in hand. Then we may feel a lot better, and more importantly the team would too.

Re: Everton’s team weds
Newcastle aren't really that important to me but I have a lot of time for Eddie Howe both as a person and as a manager and Trippier was always a favourite player of mine so naturally I wanted them both to do well at Newcastle this season
My best mate is a Bradford fan they are my favourite lower league team and as I tend to be a fan of the underdog I'd also like Derby, Bournemouth and MK Dons to do well
There's probably a few other teams I have soft spots for but off the top of my head these are the ones that spring to mind

Well there’s a few ways to look at it. There’s your way of suggesting, as Everton have never gone down, they would be favourites not to. But also, you might say they’ve never experienced the pressure before, have a very inexperienced manager and fans who make can things very toxic. That’s without mentioning, on paper, a far tougher run in than us. They still have to play 4 of the top 7.ClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 5:24 pmWho's more likely to go down though. I'm Townsend still out? He's the one that can make a difference for them, especially with our habit to cover rather than close down players shooting outside our box.

Amazing just how many opportunities we are being presented with this season, and on Wed we simply have to take the latest one, win that and suddenly the table and atmosphere will be very different, ahead of another winnable match away to Norwich.
A few things in our favour, Everton have the worst away record in the division, they also have a few key players missing, and arguably they're under more pressure than we are regarding getting relegated.
Time for SD and the squad to finally step up when it counts and deliver the goods.

So after the manager is 'forced' into pairing Cork and Brownhill, we go onto picking up points. It's not a coincidence that we look utterly hopeless as soon as Westwood comes back in.

Because we've not yet turned up in the crunch games, however due to others being just as hapless we still have a shot at survival, which arguably we don't deserve given our dire form throughout the season, but mainly due to Everton being equally dire there is still a path to survival for us, now whether we are good enough to take it is another matter entirely.ClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 6:15 pmIf Norwich is a winnable game, why was it 0-0 when we played them at home.
