Phew! we made hard work of that win, but that's 2 on the bounce now so all is well in the end.

Yorkshire denied by a stubborn Northants who batted out 120 overs 4th innings.

Warwickshire easily defeating Essex, and they look the ones to beat again this season,

Terrific start for Lancs at Southampton, Hampshire 19-3 after winning the toss and batting, 1 for Bailey, 2 for Jimmy.

Broad also strikes early for Notts.

Keith Barker due in next for Hampshire .... learnt his cricket at Enfield CC, where his late Dad, Keith Snr, was a former Professional.

My son once creamed a cover drive off him in an u14's game for Lowerhouse at Dill Hall Lane, which didn't please young Keith much, the next ball resulted in the off stump cart-wheeling out of the ground !

Given Hamps were 69-5, and 146-7, 246 is a decent effort

3 for Jimmy in the end, and he'll surely play a major role in England's summer.

Wells out just before the close, but a steady enough start by Lancs, 37-1 at stumps.

No idea who Paterson of Notts is, but he took 8-52 in the Worcs innings, and somewhat upstaged Stuart Broad.

And another century for Bell-Drummond he must be knocking on the England door now.

Well strictly that's his task to ensure the senior players don't face the final deliveries of the day, mind you given that there is very few rabbits these days I'd say the role of nightwatchman has definitely changed, it used to mean just holding up an end for 10-15 minutes, now often guys will come out the next morning and make a score.

Agreed, you often see them coming out and getting a useful 30 or so. That said, he's nailed on for a first baller now.

Excellent performance by Hassan Ali again with the ball, and Jimmy being, well, Jimmy with 14-6-24-3. Just need to be mopping these tails up a bit quicker. Two innings in a row where we've had them on the ropes and a stubborn partnership has ensued.

Sadly, our batting seems to have got back to normal this morning with four wickets falling for 24 runs in 8 overs after a third wicket stand of 37 in 7 overs. Now 100-6.

Good fightback by the lower order to keep us in the game, but we really need to get as close as possible to Hamps 1st innings, and ideally a small lead would be nice, because batting 4th on this track ain't gonna be easy at all.

Phil Salt needs to open the batting for me. Direct replacement for Davies.

We don't seem to score fast enough at the top of the order and when bad weather plays it's part will restrict our chances of winning games.

Lancs trail by 21.

This game is unlikely to see day 4 is it. Could do with a Jimmy special here, good start getting one of the openers early.

Jimmy gets Vince, that could be a key wicket, however Hampshire already over 100 ahead, so Lancs could really do with wrapping this innings up fairly quickly tomorrow.

150 for Harry Brook, this lad must be in England's thoughts surely given his phenomenal rate of scoring this season.

This 5th wicket stand taking the game away from Lancs. 207-4 and lead over 200, Gubbins and Brown doing the damage.

Brook finally dismissed for 194, but Yorkshire piling on the runs.

Good luck to the bowlers at Bristol, Surrey 603 plays Gloucs 232-0, safe to say that one is heading to a draw.

Hampshire still batting I'm afraid, 340-8, and a healthy lead of nearly 350, Lancs will do well to win from here, indeed we might even be playing to salvage a draw on the final day.

3 wickets for Lamb, but it's been a tough day in the field.

Fight for the draw tomorrow. Below definitely playing themselves into England Test contention atm.

Higgins
Brook
Bell-Drummond

Dent has also been brilliant at Gloucestershire

All doing their England prospects no harm, and I'd also add Ben Compton to that list, the grandson of one particular Denis Compton, so plenty for him to live up to with the family name.

Lancs set 351 to win, no losses in the brief 6 over spell before stumps. 9-0 at the close.

No play all day, and I doubt they'll bother now with a draw certain anyway.

A get out of jail card that for Lancs with the rain, as I think we'd have struggled to bat out the day.
