Batting suddenly looks hard work for the 1st time in the match, now if we could nip Malan and Root out before lunch then it could make for an interesting afternoon.
Looked pretty hard when the wicket keeper couldn't knock it off the square

39-1 at lunch, should be a draw, but you never know I suppose.

5 wickets in 29 overs, if the weather holds that's possible, even on this track.

That Warwickshire game is a mess isn't it? 10 wickets for over a thousand runs.

What are they doing with the pitches? These balls aren't doing a lot either, and are changed with incredible regularity.

I don't know, but there's definitely been a dramatic change from the normal early season scores, and in trying to correct the bowler friendly tracks, they appear to have moved too far in the other direction, and are producing pitches with runs galore on offer.

5 centuries in that Edgbaston game alone, and Edgbaston isn't usually a track that produces huge totals.

It's good for the England batsmen though as they'll at least spend time in the middle, however whether that is good preparation for facing a potent NZ attack we'll discover in June.

Yes a draw but Lancs can claim a moral victory having dominated most of the contest.

Brook impressing again 2nd dig, and he'll be getting an England call up soon.

It is amazing how many of England’s fast bowlers are crocked, latest are Saqib and Fisher but there are more of them on the treatment table than actually bowling. First thing for Key and McCullum to sort out.

Yes they're dropping like flies aren't they, Matthew Potts of Durham is rumoured to be getting a call up, 35 wickets this season, at an average of under 19, admittedly in Division 2, but he might be worth a punt, he's a right arm seamer if you aren't already aware.

But these injuries are becoming a real problem now, and you seriously do wonder how England will cope once Anderson and Broad finally leave the stage.

They don’t get enough bowling into their legs in county cricket, need big backsides like Ken Higgs, Trueman, Rushworth etc. This lot are cosseted undergraduates!

Anderson v Cook this morning! Lancashire have a serious attack for Hassan's last game.

Well we got rid of Cook early, but Browne and Westley are going at lunch, 74-1 with the sun coming out, not what Lancs would wish to see when bowling. Bailey with the sole success of the morning session.

Parky gets rid of Westley, but Browne and Lawrence going well at 136-2.

More runs for Compton again another 50 and he's still in.

Crawley also made a 50, Lees 44, however Stokes out for just 15, and for once Shan Masood failed making only 18, Lancs old boy Davies not troubling the scorers much for his new county, a mere 19 to his name today.

A wicket for jimmy, but this 4th wicket stand is threatening to take the game away from Lancashire, 212-3.

Compton on the verge of yet another ton, he must be in the thought's of England at the very least.

Good final session for Lancs, 233-3 becomes 280-7 at the close, 100 unbeaten for Lawrence, and 3 wickets for Bailey. I think Lancs will be the happier side tonight with those late wickets.

Ben Compton bats through the day for his 125 not out, and he's doing all he can to convince England to pick him.

Crikey! start the car, and this is supposedly a good pitch on which to bat, good to see Lancs soon reverting to our usual typical batting, after a few good scores early season.

Lancs 32-5 at the close.

Yorks 269-4, 25 runs ahead, quality bat Lyth 118 not out.

Dismal display by Lancs, but as you rightly say it's still early in the season, this could be all over today if Lancs don't wake up mind you.

103 all out 1st dig, only Salt who made 44 can hold his head high, and already Jennings gone 2nd dig, 10-1 only a mere 278 to make Essex bat again.

Lyth went for 145, but Yorkshire building a good lead, already nearly 150 ahead.

Compton made 140, and if he doesn't get at least one England test this summer I'll be staggered.

Whoo! Lancs have passed 50 for the loss of only 3 wickets. 3 boundaries in 35 overs tells you everything you need to know about how much ball is dominating bat.

100 up for Lancs and still only 3 down, making a better fist of the 2nd innings, but probably far too late to make a difference.

50 for Vilas, 138-4, still 150 adrift though.

Lancs 213-9 at close, and TBH they might as we;; have finished up tonight, although I suppose rain may yet ride to Lancs rescue, undeserved as that would be.

Vilas played nicely, and Croft and Salt entertained briefly, but Lancashire have totally outplayed for the last 2 days, after an even first day.

Somerset blown away for 69 in their 2nd innings as Hampshire easily wrap up a 10 wicket victory. and Yorkshire well poised to do similar tomorrow.

Unless weather intervenes, or somebody sabotage's the pitch, I suspect this will be well over by 4PM tomorrow.

Warwickshire won toss and batted, good morning for Lancs, wicket for Bailey and Balderson, and Davies fails again against his former county, Sibley going nicely mind you, 53-2 in the 19th.

Warks 292 all out, 3 wickets for Balderson and Lamb, and 2 for some chap called Williams, no idea who he is, but decent figures of 2-42, a 130 for Sam Hain saved Warks.
