Re: Name the next manager
I've asked a Belgian journalist on Twitter. He's well connected and I'd imagine this is pretty left field so it might intrigue him to chase it up. Kompany seems too big a name for us. Would take Bilic. I'm surprised I'm saying this but would take Rooney. I like how he has handled the Derby situation.

Neil Critchley would be on my interview list

All the talk on Twitter is Chris Wilder and he’s just dodged questions about links to the job on his post match interview

Is Wilder the reason ALK wanted to takeover Sheff.U?

I'd take Wilder. Wouldn't be my first choice though.

Wilder is more a horses for courses appointment, I would have thought that ALK would want a Coach to work with a DoF and bring through younger players.

Re: Name the next manager
This is nothing more than Wilder not ruling himself out.
Re: Name the next manager
Wilder plays a totally different brand of football to Dyche. I was saying to a mate of mine who is a Boro fan that he'd have been my number one choice if Dyche ever left.
The ALK link is a good point, maybe they have had dealings in the past with Wilder?
The only thing against getting him would be him doing the dirty on another club, not very loyal, and would make me feel a bit uncomfortable.

Farke, Knutson and Wilder on list apparently.
Must admit that’s not exactly an inspiring list. Probably Knutson is the best of that bunch.

Re: Name the next manager
Personally not a fan of us signing Wilder but has got Championship pedigree and plays good football. So does Farke though.
Neither a patch on Dyche imo. If last week you’d told me I’d be contemplating Wilder or Farke as Burnley managers…
Rams now relegated so Rooney might be interested.

I'm salivating at the prospect of seeing Ben Mee as an overlapping centre back.

Re: Name the next manager
Wilder has been decidedly average for boro.
Farke has the best pedigree for promotion on a relatively tight budget.
If I’m honest I don’t think either are great options especially if the target is to get promoted and stay up.

Would love Knutsen. Bit of a left field appointment but his record at Bodo is incredible. And he plays attacking football. Wilder knows the PL and could grind a few results out.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 4:59 pmFarke, Knutson and Wilder on list apparently.

Who knows what goes on behind closed doors at a football club mate...a lot of stuff is just made up stuff... Wilder had a good side at Sheffield....he's certainly better than the likes of Fat Sam and all the other shite names being bandied aboutFeedTheArf wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 5:15 pmWasn’t one of the reasons it all went to sh*t at Sheff U was players being signed that weren’t necessarily his choices?
Can’t see him wanting to work with ALK if that’s the case.

Re: Name the next manager
No but to be fair the issue really is that Championship football is our most likely offering next year so a manager that’s proven (and is prepared to manage) at that level is likely best choice. But what’s on offer doesn’t have much experience of staying in the Prem once promoted!
That’s where Dyche excelled - knew the Championship & how to stay in the Prem. That said, I’m not so sure he’d have stayed if we went down, or got us up again this time.
Also unsure about unproven managers (Carrick, Kompany, etc) or European managers in terms of their ability to negotiate the Championship (if they’d even want to).

Re: Name the next manager
The only names that interest me are Wilder and Bilic. They have a track record in the league lower as well as this - something I feel is a must as relegation is far more likely than not.
I’d be very, very pleased with Wilder.

He has a good record there. My only concern is he just has zero experience of British football.
Very few managers succeed in England without any experience.
Could be a gamble worth taking
Re: Name the next manager
From this incident that happened last week, it sounds like Knutsen is ready to leave:

Re: Name the next manager
Huddersfield manager
Blackpool manager
Luton manager
Forest manager
Derby manager
All young and done/doing decent jobs with very little money, and if we are going down a director of football role , we maybe better with a young and hungry coach over a full on manager running everything from top to bottom

Potter came from Sweden didn’t he after similar success to what he’s done at Bodo. Similar play styles actually albeit from what I’ve seen Bodo are even more front foot.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 5:33 pmHe has a good record there. He did, but he also had 15 years experience of playing in English football.
I can’t think of many managers that have been successful coming from weak leagues to British football with no experience of British football.
Only one recently is probs the wolves manager

Re: Name the next manager
Sounds like more of an opinion piece than anything with weight to it. I mean, imagine sacking Sean Dyche for Daniel Farke? Nobody would be that silly, would they?…

Re: Name the next manager
Farke - no, Norwich may well storm the championship but they looked wide open at this level
Wilder - hey, not unhappy, but its a bit meh
Knudsen - 100% an exciting appointment with absolutely no idea how it would end up - could go really badly wrong, could be brilliant

Gotta love the plethora of articles from desperate 'journos' when there's a vacancy like this. "X is a manager and they may or may not be interested in the job."

Like the sound of Knudsen from what I've read about him.. plays decent stuff, not afraid to use young players and used to working within a budget.
Re: Name the next manager
We'll get turned down by BFS and end up with Warnock coming out of retirement till the end of the season
