Sammy Bubbly wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 3:19 pmWhat makes people think we will have Players from Manchester City?
Been thinking the same thing, people getting a little carried away rummaging through the City squad. Maybe the manager would like to prove he can do well without any favours?
Why would City just decide to let VK have his pick of their young players?
How many did he get on loan in Belgium? Is it anymore than Lampard has on loan from Chelsea or Villa had since Gerrard took over.
Calm down….!

Re: Kompany. Paddy Power bets suspended
According to Wikipedia, “Earnest is a ghost town in Farmington Township, Rooks County, Kansas, United States.”
So I assume it’s where we will be going for our training camp prior to our US based pre season tour.

Re: Name the next manager
One of the problems with Dyche was that he was paid too much and on too long a contract. It made him too comfortable. The risk for him is far less than for us. Not sure I’m keen on the approach of paying over the odds for too inexperienced a manager.

Re: Name the next manager
The problem was Pace saying he was so important to us. That led to everything being in Dyche’s favour. He wasn’t necessarily of the mind to sign a new deal but then they came up with a huge four year deal.
I’m not sure it made him too comfortable because I don’t think that’s his way.

Ofcourse, giving Dyche the deal most folk wanted and which ultimately lead to Terence chants about “4 more years of anti-football” is all Pace’s fault. Seem to recall questioning it at the time and benign in the minority.
Alas, we all have a degree in hindsight.

Re: Name the next manager
Shouldn’t have offered him that deal and shouldn’t have sacked him when he did. In my opinion it should have been much sooner when there was no evidence of change on the pitch. It was so late though I’d have kept him on to try and get us back up. I think offering this kind of contract for someone unproven at this level is yet another strange decision.
Re: Name the next manager
Kompany maybe after taking Shaun Maloney with him to Burnley who was sacked by Hibs

Another problem was that Dyche was linked with pretty much every vacancy outside of the top 6 as they came up.

Pace knew the fans loved Dyche so put a lot of importance on getting a deal done, thinking it would help ALK get the fans on side.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 10:25 pmThe problem was Pace saying he was so important to us. Prior to this season I might have agreed with that, but I’m not sure there’s another club in the world that would give a manager a 4 year deal when the team were performing so badly. From reports that have come out since, Dyche was open to leaving at the end of last season and things had gone stale (dare I say, comfort zone??!), so surely a rolling 12 month deal would suit all parties. I can’t see the sense in offering a 4 year deal to a manager of a club in the relegation zone. Though as others have said, hindsight is a wonderful thing!

I don’t think Dyche’s relationship with the fans had anything to do with it. I thought it was the right decision to look at a new deal but I was stunned when that became four years.FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Sat May 28, 2022 7:03 amPace knew the fans loved Dyche so put a lot of importance on getting a deal done, thinking it would help ALK get the fans on side.

I think the 4 year deal was done in the hope someone would come in for him and we'd get a whack of compensation.

I hear Phelan is going to be relieved of his duties in a shake up by Ten Hag, or whatever his name is.

Re: Name the next manager
I can't think of any premier league club that would want Dyche, he is tarnished by his style of football and no championship clubs could afford his salary or compensation
Re: Name the next manager
I agree. His only chance is as a last ditch attempt to stay up in a relegation battle ala BFS, but I think he has proven his results take time and also are not as successful as BFS's attemptsTop Claret wrote: ↑Sat May 28, 2022 1:02 pmI can't think of any premier league club that would want Dyche, he is tarnished by his style of football and no championship clubs could afford his salary or compensation

Re: Name the next manager
Moyes is a good example of becoming re-employable. When he got sacked at West Ham previously few would have touched him with a barge pole. And it was only because West Ham were desperate for a manager he got a second chance. Yet look how he's managed to turn his career around.

Re: Name the next manager
It took Sam it took him 2 seasons to get Bolton promoted to the PL and that coincided with Eddie Davies joining the board before becoming full owner in 03, which is when they started finishing top 10 regularly.
In regards to keeping clubs up, he's generally successful if he's got a full transfer window to throw money around in.
Big Sam is a cheque book manager when it comes to avoiding relegation quite simply.
Dyche got us promoted in his first full season and again at the first attempt after we came back down and kept us up for 5 years straight then with a lot less money in comparison
They're different types of managers

I personally think Dyche will end up with the England set up, a little similar to Ady Boothroyd but probably a higher position. He is a very astute person and think an international role would suit him
