Yes I do. What is the reason for the hold up then? I’m all ears.

Boden has posted on Twitter that as of yet he’s not been told to come to the turf for an announcement. Currently not looking like it will be today.NewClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 8:24 amI have my sources RV
Although I wouldn’t have posted had there not been tweets discussing it after I’d been told (which I can’t find, now deleted?) and CT’s not-so-cryptic message pointing to today. CT hasn’t replied, not sure if that’s because I’m right & he can’t say , or I’m wrong and he’s sparing my blushes.
Sticking with it until 10:01. Worst comes to the worst, I’ll just have to change my username

Re: Name the next manager
Probably the work permit. The Vincent Kompany rumour mill is giving a positive backdrop to the new season and everyone is talking about it.
Why would the club want to bring that to an end when it doesn't have to...?
It's just the start of the summer - the club will be looking to unload a number of good players and it needs a good news narrative spinning out throughout the summer and Vincent Kompany is PR gold.
Re: Name the next manager
Press conferences aren’t usually on the same day as the announcement anyway. But yeah, definitely no press conference at 10am.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 9:12 amBoden has posted on Twitter that as of yet he’s not been told to come to the turf for an announcement. Securing funds? What’s Shackleton doing these days?Jamesy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 8:01 amI said it before and I will say it again. Kompany wants to come but it is conditional on Pace securing new backers to fund his plans. At present Pace must still be desperately seeking new backers, hence the continued hold up. The work permit thing is just a smokescreen.
Another day wasted on this never ending shaggy dog story.

It’s been that long since a manager took over I can’t even remember what happens. But I imagine the local press will be invited to the unveiling/announcement?
Re: Name the next manager
Guys, come on now, you all know the drill by now.
It’ll be next week.
It’ll be next week.
Re: Name the next manager
Not the work permit. If that was the case there would have been an announcement that he has agreed in principle subject to work permit being granted. His wife is from Manchester area also. No way would a work permit take this long. And that lot up the road have just appointed a new manager from Europe within a matter of days. No work permit issue there.

This is becoming really worrying from the clubs perspective.
Goodness me get it over the line.

If you recall the collective slump in Claret shoulders when Brian Laws was announced as the manager when we last got relegated - that hasn't happened.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 9:19 amI understand your view, but what good PR have we received? We now looked to have secured a manager being pursued (allegedly) by some decent European clubs.
I think he is generating a a lot of decent PR and is making the cub's owners look like serious players: no mean feat.
I think he is providing a positive backdrop during a period when there will be a drip drip of good players leaving the club.

Look at how Rovers just announced their manager. Don't need press to make an announcement.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 9:20 amIt’s been that long since a manager took over I can’t even remember what happens. But I imagine the local press will be invited to the unveiling/announcement?

I think there has been plenty of publicity over this... but we aren't Man Utd that's for sure. And keeping the fans on board will be important.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 9:29 amBut what Decent PR is it generating? I don’t understand what you mean. There is not a lot else that is positive in the media other than Kompany.
And all this is in a period where Ben Mee has confirmed he is leaving and Wout Weghorst has aired his opinions all over the place, which did get a lot of publicity.
It's just an opinion, but I think the club will appreciate the ongoing good news story even if it is not the reason why the appointment is being delayed.

Re: Name the next manager
I’m not 100% convinced any delay has been solely work permit related.
However, comparing one person receiving a work permit with another person not, is a waste of time.
The work permit process involves different agencies (police/home office) etc in different countries and you often find that some countries work more quickly than others. So unless Thomason was also coming in from Belgium, it’s pointless comparing the two.

Probably just saving it all up for a set of huge announcements - Kompany in, Premier League agree to pay us £100m compensation, new investors and 10 new players including Lewandowski who is said to like the challenge of the Championship.
Or…… they could all have been on holiday. What will be, will be.

Apart from Burnley fans the general chatter I've encountered amongst fans is "big gamble, might get some City freebies, not really done much". Pundits and analysts are a little more positive which is encouraging, the analysis of Kompanys tactics recently was a brilliant read, does seem similar to Dyche pre-2020 (ie when we actually did play decent efficient football) just with slower buildup and an unusual role for the holding midfielder. But it's on fairly small and niche sports media sites.
Conventional wisdom isn't always right, nor is popular consensus, so I'm not placing too much stock in wider fan reaction, just making the point that while the Kompany rumour mill does get us a paper article every few days I'm not really seeing much positive sports buzz outside the Burnley bubble. Not seeing negativity either for what it's worth. More a reaction of interested bemusement.

I think think once the appointment has been made a few outlets will most likely talk about it. But I don’t really see good PR aspect.

It's been 20 days since Kompany was widely touted as having got the job. It's another 46 days to the first league game, and it's a very short time to pre-season training starting. If the Kompany appointment does fall through, which (until it's signed, sealed and delivered, it might) then we have a matter of days, realistically, to get someone else in.
The close season lasts 69 days, and this is day 23. It's not just the start of summer, we're well into summer, and a manager isn't just a cipher - he should be doing useful work.

To me a new manager simply has to be out on the training pitch with the lads for when they return to pre season training. That can’t be far away! It has to happen this week.

I can only reiterate what my contact told me yesterday. Kompany will be announced as manager with Craig Bellamy being his assistant. (My friend/contact is very reliable, works within BFC. I can’t say anything more because If I gave anymore information about him, you would know who it is). And it’s meant to be announced today!

To save trawling through the last 4 thousand plus threads....is there any factual evidence out there that VK is to be the next manager.
The only fact that I am aware of is that he has left Anderlecht and is now available to manage a club elsewhere.
