Never seen him before. But that seemed a very positive 4 minutes.

He has to though. When the window closes sensible people stop paying the monthly fee.

Agreed.

I don’t buy the WP bits personally but otherwise very level headed/positive.

I agree that that we have some time to adapt. Do hope we get an easier start to help on that front though.

If the work permit was the issue, could anyone explain why Jon Dahl Tomasson is apparently getting announced as Rovers manager within the next 48 hours according to Sky? They only just decided on him.

Does it matter? He's going to be our manager and has clearly already had an influence behind the scenes.

Who knows, there may even be an explanation with the announcement.

Possibly. Just that it’s a conflict between CT’s sources.

No, doesn’t matter - just curious really. It seems like it cannot be the full story when you can see examples at other clubs that are not encountering the same delays (and don’t have Kompany’s history in the country/family etc). I just find it perplexing and feel it leads credence to the idea there have been issues with this appointment that go beyond waiting for a work permit. Will we ever know? Probably not.

I’m not sure why the views of a transfer gossip hack are relevant for anything other than transfer rumours. He’s no more qualified to comment on how well a team might do or how the league will pan out than you or I.

You’re more than welcome to comment on it - my point was that he’s a strange choice to question about things outside of transfers (which his interview went on to).

4 mins have him speaking beats the 4000 posts of mainly rubbish that is this thread. I know he's become one of the UTCs bogey men but I thought it was interesting hearing what someone obviously quite close to the situation had to say on the matter

I think what Nixon has that “you or I” don’t have is a perspective from behind something other than claret and blue tinted glasses. For all the stick he gets on here, I thought he spoke very well of us and, and whether he is proved right or wrong about our progress in the Championship, I quite enjoyed listening to a knowledgable football pundit talking positively about our team.

I've never known so much drama before , the Kompany appointment has become a circus.

All that will make us happy is him being a good manager and getting us in a position that we have a great chance of promotion. Anything else will not be good enough on the money he's on!

No one has a clue , he's a big gamble. A player who was good , we know absolutely nothing about his ability to manage in English football. He has to hit the ground running and I'm not convinced because he appears to have Craig Bellamy as his assistant.

If anyone is going to upset the playing staff it's Bellamy.

My opinion is that it is madness and I will have to stand or fall by that opinion. All glitz and fanfare. I daren t mention nationality for fear of upsetting the snowflakes, wokes or whatever they are called in Lancaster, New Mexico and other places these days

Its a little surprising really, given the time he was in the uk, and his family situation, that he never applied for GB citizenship. You would imagine he would have qualified before his move to Anderlecht, at least.

It’s not a drama, it’s not a PR disaster and it’s not a circus.

People would think we were three weeks into the season and a week from the transfer window closing the way folk on here are carrying on.

It will be announced, likely tomorrow and there is plenty of time for everything else to fall into place particularly as it seems that he’s been pulling the strings regardless.

The whole point of Kompany's appointment is to get people doing just what they are doing.

Talking about us.

We're being groomed for the spot light in a positive way. It's PR at its finest.

I think it depends what your personal target is. If Promotion is the target, time is rapidly disappearing. It’s imperative the team start the season well if we are to achieve promotion.

It’s still possible but things on the transfer front have to start moving rapidly. Kompany needs his guys in, in time to implement his tactics.

Let’s hope we get this over the line tomorrow so we can focus on transfers and pre season.

(I didn’t know this but found it quite interesting, Forrest are the first team in over a decade to be promoted after not being in the top 6 after the first 5 games. According to Talksport anyway).

My personal ambition is promotion and I don’t think this has impacted that in any way.

Managers come in mid season with a squad they can’t change until the window opens and get a turn out of them.

It’s three weeks since the season concluded and I dare say that even if we still had Sean Dyche, next to nothing would have happened in this period.

I appreciate that relegation was difficult but some on here, including some posters I’d generally consider as level headed, have been near hysterical.

There is plenty of time left in the summer, just relax and enjoy what promises to be an exciting few weeks one way or another.

I’m looking forward to more exciting brand of football. Hopefully it will be entertaining.

Perhaps your right but at the same time our squad is incredibly thin now. Additions will be needed rapidly if Kompany is to be successful early in the season. I think it’s important purely down to the fact that I think this is similar situation to Ferguson and Wenger leaving there respective clubs. The managers tactics and ethos are so ingrained that Kompany needs as much time and signings as soon as possible to implement his changes.

I think we can all agree this is going to be our most entertaining summer in a long time.

Pretty good that linking Bellamy to my comment last month about my feelings about my fellow pensioners' welfare. That must have hurt you because there is absolutely no connection.

I've never heard anything positive about Bellamy's coaching credentials as I'm sure you haven't until his name has been linked to Kompany. I still haven't

Look I've already said I'll stand or fall by my opinion, is there anything else you want from me?

Pretty good that linking Bellamy to my comment last month about my feelings about my fellow pensioners' welfare. That must have hurt you because there is absolutely no connection.

I've never heard anything positive about Bellamy's coaching credentials as I'm sure you haven't until his name has been linked to Kompany. I still haven't

Look I've already said I'll stand or fall by my opinion, is there anything else you want from me?
Not read through any of this in detail but it feels like every one of your posts I come across seems to be an argument with another poster.

Whatever your thoughts at present regards Bellamy I would do a little research into what he has done since retiring from playing. He set up a charity in Africa which he put a lot of time, money and energy into. It did go tits up but he put his all into that trying to improve the lives of others.

The media image of him is very different to the real him from people I know who know of him

I'm happy you concede that Kompany is a gamble , something we do agree on it seems
And there in lies the problem, every appointment is a gamble.
