Whatever your thoughts at present regards Bellamy I would do a little research into what he has done since retiring from playing. He set up a charity in Africa which he put a lot of time, money and energy into. It did go tits up but he put his all into that trying to improve the lives of others.

The media image of him is very different to the real him from people I know who know of him
My thoughts on Bellamy only relate to his coaching ability of which there is no evidence he is any good.
I suspect he will rub the players up the wrong way, it's a gut feeling based on his playing days . There is nothing to say I will be correct

I've seen a couple of references to a press conference at 10am tomorrow, apologies if I've missed it on this thread but it's difficult to wade through the petty bickering.

I saw an announcement from Belgium media on VK appointment being confirmed along with all his backroom staff, but on trying to confirm I can't find anything.

I think it depends what your personal target is. If Promotion is the target, time is rapidly disappearing. It’s imperative the team start the season well if we are to achieve promotion.

It’s still possible but things on the transfer front have to start moving rapidly. Kompany needs his guys in, in time to implement his tactics.

Let’s hope we get this over the line tomorrow so we can focus on transfers and pre season.

(I didn’t know this but found it quite interesting, Forrest are the first team in over a decade to be promoted after not being in the top 6 after the first 5 games. According to Talksport anyway).
I think it is essential that we start well as well but not because we won’t get promotion if we don’t. I think Forest proved last Season and we proved with 23 undefeated that you can get promoted with a poor or indifferent start. It is essential to start well to stop the natives moaning.

Not related to Kompany, or to Bellamys coaching abilities but I just want to pick up on this. Not expecting anyone to believe me, but I know someone who is very familiar with Bellamy, who I have no reason to distrust or doubt their judgment/character assessment. They have no good words about him. "Complete little s****" was the exact description.

Kompany is a gamble- I wouldn't describe myself as enthused or excited, intrigued perhaps- but I also recognise we'll struggle to do better. There's no proven coaches available we could afford who would want the job, so one gamble or another is necessary.

I'd be far happier with Kompany if he wasn't coming with Bellamy. If he does come, then I'll give him the chance to win me round. Barton certainly did. But this negative assessment is nothing to do with public chatter but a personal testimony I have no reason to doubt.

I think there’s something in that.

I’m hoping Pace understands that we will more likely than not get promoted if we can fill the team with quality players. Ultimately, quality counts. We’ve given the biggest PL teams a run for their money in recent years, been competitive for long periods and beaten most, but over a season if we have the best players we’ll give ourselves an excellent chance.

I also hope that Kompany understands he can’t integrate all of his signings in to the team, or his tactical ideas, immediately. We’ll be more than competitive with our existing players (baring a new CB) and playing 4-4-2. Get some wins chalked up and tweak things gradually.

But I’m hoping we get an easy start because we do need to get some belief in the fan base.

He has to hit the ground running and I'm not convinced because he appears to have Craig Bellamy as his assistant.

If anyone is going to upset the playing staff it's Bellamy.
I think it's been said on more than one occasion that Ian Woan was hardly candy floss and sweetness.
Good cop, bad cop and all that.

Who is currently at the club in terms of recruitment, analytics, football operations, etc?

I've lost count of who is and isn't still around. Are there still the personnel so that when a new manager arrives there would be a list of possible signings ready for them?

I'm assuming that a new manager (particularly from what we've heard about Kompany bringing a large part of his team with him) would also have a similar list.

I think we can all agree this is going to be our most entertaining summer in a long time.
We hope it is.

Although I’m not really keen on the thought of bringing in the 7-10 new players some are talking of. We need to promote a few from the youth set up and also focus on quality not quantity. There is a January window and a long break in the season before then where we won’t be playing anyway.

I agree re Wenger/Fergie. Maybe the key difference in outcome will be the immediate ability to replace aging squads with a new team?

Wasn’t this discussed yesterday? Betting companies taking bets because there’s still people out there willing to place bets?

Not saying 10 am is correct of course, just one doesn’t automatically discount the other.

Credit where credit’s due, some sort of guinness book of records entry will be taking place for the managerial appointment to be officially verified.

Genuinely can’t remember the last manager of any club to be announced at a Press Conference?

They’re usually announced one day via social media and then a Press Conference follows in the days after.

I said it before and I will say it again. Kompany wants to come but it is conditional on Pace securing new backers to fund his plans. At present Pace must still be desperately seeking new backers, hence the continued hold up. The work permit thing is just a smokescreen.

I have my sources RV ;)

Although I wouldn’t have posted had there not been tweets discussing it after I’d been told (which I can’t find, now deleted?) and CT’s not-so-cryptic message pointing to today. CT hasn’t replied, not sure if that’s because I’m right & he can’t say , or I’m wrong and he’s sparing my blushes.

Sticking with it until 10:01. Worst comes to the worst, I’ll just have to change my username

Early announcement, obviously worried ours will overshadow theirs.

Understable really, smaller club and all that.

Vince trumps Jon.

I said it before and I will say it again. Kompany wants to come but it is conditional on Pace securing new backers to fund his plans. At present Pace must still be desperately seeking new backers, hence the continued hold up. The work permit thing is just a smokescreen.
If this was true I'd have told Kompany to sling his hook immediately. The project is what it is, accept it or do not.

No way that's the case.

Early announcement, obviously worried ours will overshadow theirs.

Understable really, smaller club and all that.

Vince trumps Jon.
Still no idea why we didn't do this weeks ago.

We'll probably delay ours now so the announcements doesn't get overshadowed by the Rovers news :)

To be fair it does say

‘Jon and Remy will officially take up their new roles over the coming days, once international clearance and UK work permit applications have been approved.‘
As I have said repeatedly on here there was nothing stopping us from doing if he was as 'in the bag; as some posters on here have continued to say. Whatever the issue/delay has been, it is non-sensical to suggest it is purely down to a work permit as people like Alan Nixon have done. I believe that is a line being trotted to bide time whilst Kompany has been courted by other clubs such as Monchengladbach etc. Whatever the delay has been I doubt we'll ever know (and do we really care to be honest, as long as he is now in!).
