Nathan Jones looked on the verge of a nervous breakdown at Stoke, so no
If I wanted to gamble, then I'd give the lad at Swansea a call
He's done really well, plays good stuff, and is used to operating with absolutely no cash at all
Russell Martin

Re: Name the next manager
As long as it's somebody we as fans can see has a bit of a vision for the club.
Despite it's flaws, the current squad has plenty of experience to make an attempt at staying up this season. Plenty of players out of contract means there's an opportunity for a decent sized rebuild (finances permitting of course) regardless of what league we're in.
The last thing we need now as a club and as fans is a dinosaur appointment like Allardyce/Pulis/Pardew.
It's a massive, massive decision made by Pace, his next one is equally as big.

Wayne Rooney would be great, he's got that name in world football to attract quality players. I like listening to Rooney speak, he's actually really intelligent about the game, surprising really I always thought he was a numpty. He was spot on about Lampard jumping levels too quickly, this would be a very good next step up for Rooney.
We'd also be a very popular side with the press, would certainly bring attention to our club.

Re: Name the next manager
The Royal Rooney does have a bit of a ring to it.
He’s still probably a better striker than Barnes too.

Re: Name the next manager
ALK have demonstrated with their decision today that it will not be a sentimental appointment. Their strategy is blooding youth and bringing them through.
It will not be an ex player doing well in lower leagues like Michael Duff (love him). It also won't be BFS or his ilk.
Exciting Times.

If as some are speculating, Neil Warnock is appointed, can someone please ensure that a defibrillator and Ambulance are present at a certain address in the Worsthorne area, as Francis Stanley Ternent will probably explode on hearing the news ....

Re: Name the next manager
I actually think the out of contract thing makes this an even bigger gamble. How are they going to react to a new boss who is comingni with a new broom. Are they even more likely to say "ah **** it"???Scott Arfield's Swag wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 11:27 amAs long as it's somebody we as fans can see has a bit of a vision for the club.

As for who takes over - absolutely nobody already ina job elsewhere is coming here unless they are in a precarious position. So don't be thinking we will get an improvement. It will either be our youth coaches or some one out of work

Re: Name the next manager
I'd be happy with Rafa but don't think he would come. I wouldn't touch any of the others on ClaretMov's list. Maybe Bielsa butbhe would have to demonstrate he has learnt from his experience with Leeds because that approach would be a disaster for us.

Re: Name the next manager
Think it probably needs a temporary appointment until the season end. That would enable us to pick the right man in June, for the PL or Championship. They are different appointments.

I'd love Rafa too if he'd come. He's a manager that connects with the community and whole team too. He would be a good fit. Won't keep us up, but I don't think anyone would, especially not Sean.

The last time we were hunting for a new manager, I was asking on here for Paul Jewell.
That’s how long it’s been.

Re: Name the next manager
I keep saying it, but if we are going for a complete change, we should look at Marcelo Gallardo. He has been in charge at River Plate since 2014, won praise for his playing style and has become the most successful manager in their history.
River Plate
Copa Sudamericana: 2014
Recopa Sudamericana: 2015, 2016, 2019
Copa Libertadores: 2015, 2018
Suruga Bank Championship: 2015
Copa Argentina: 2015–16, 2016–17, 2018–19
Supercopa Argentina: 2017, 2019
Argentine Primera División: 2021
Trofeo de Campeones de la Liga Profesional: 2021
A record not to be sniffed at!

Wouldn't be surprised if new manager was sitting with Pace on Sunday
Must have someone lined up although I suspect the title will be head coach

Not sure if this has been posted previously,
David Unsworth suddenly quit his Academy Directors/U23 Managers job this week to pursue a managers career at a higher level, not saying he is the next manager but there is most definately a Rooney connection there and they go back a long way.
