Definitely not Guardiola as he is crap at Semis, especially when we get into Champions League

Anyone catch Michael Brown's comments on 5Live tonight?

He said his lad is in the Burnley academy, and he spends a lot of time around BFC.

Went onto say he wonders whether Jackson will be replaced by a new man for the final two games - as the interviews have taken place and the candidates are sitting at home - so not currently involved in playoffs or the Prem etc.

He was pressed a bit further and said he is 100% sure interviews are done and dusted. Something along those lines anyway.

Kevin Campbell made the point about relegation/which division etc.

Sort of interesting.

Someone told me Brian Laws was at Crow Wood hotel earlier supping out of a champagne bottle and muttering ‘I’m coming home’ and ‘this time it’s the real thing’ . Not sure if his name is prominent with the bookies yet.

Would seem like common sense to wait and see which division we're in before making any
decision about this appointment.

I cant see any benefits to naming a new manager now, the players should have enough on their minds without that.
We do need a new appointment asap, but if they have picked someone, keep them under wraps.
If it is true then it doesn't fill me with confidence that we have got 'OUR' preferred targets. They would probably only have come if the prem was guaranteed.

Michael Brown spoke as if he was surprised it hadn't happened already. He said the interviews have been done and the interviewees are sat at home. He seemed adamant. It may all be rubbish of course. But interesting.

Could have interviewed them and not been impressed. Or the interviewees have said they won't commit until they know what division we're in.

I've seen the photos of Rooney turning up at court with his Mrs carrying a big bag. Guessing it's his pack up.

Might be an insane idea, might not - but a two game new manager bounce for Villa and Newcastle is a gamble that might be worth taking.

If this is true, the probability is that Heaton would not be in charge of the GK set up, somebody else earmarked for that role, but is currently already attached to a North West club

It needs to be someone who can shake off the hoof ball label we had under Dyche, and someone who can attract players.

I think Kompany or Rooney are the likeliest options and I'd bring them in now to work with Jackson for the last two games if possible.

Surely we would hold our horses until we confirm which division we are in.
If we stay up the calibre if interested coaches should be higher .

It's a difficult decision but it seems we have interviewed those on a shortlist. Why would we do that if not intending to appoint one of them. Its possible we have interviewed for both scenarios and will wait until its known which division we are in, or it could be we have someone we want who is willing to join either way.

Fingers crossed Leeds lose and we win this weekend and job done !

Fingers crossed yes, there are candidates who may well be interested in joining either way and Knutsen who is a name that interested many , was actually linked to Hibs at one point, so he may also be in the running even if we do go down . Interesting .

I like the idea of trying to catch another "bounce" for the last few games. It's a fine line between disrupting the current camp though and adding something else to it. Personally I'd be happy with an experienced head coming in for the last two days to work with Jackson rather than take over- that doesn't have to be the new manager, just someone who can try and fire the team up for the last couple. I'd even consider letting Warnock be involved for the last 2, that's how desperate I am

I think one consideration on any appointment will be if they improve the image of the club. If we are to be successful we need to grow the brand, and that starts with the manager.

My only concern is the shorter than usual close season. A new manager would surely like as much of a pre-season as possible? I think an announcement after Sunday could be worthwhile, that is if there is someone waiting in the wings.

Any potential manager inc the ones on our shortlist. You’d imagine there’ll be a shortlist for PL and one for Champ. Knutsen, Kompany and Wilder been mentioned for PL and likes of Carvahal / Rooney / Neil for Champ.

Are potential managers put off by a season in the 2nd tier, or the strong possibility that our existing squad will be severely depleted due to the sale of several key assets.
