The best manager to get us back up is Sean Dyche. He knows his stuff and we were brilliant in the Championship.
Longy, Ash, Lenno, Bards - Do you want another couple of years ?

The definition of the hard of learning on here. FFS.

I think Lancaster's point was that we only managed one draw and three defeats in the last four games; this has ultimately relegated us.

I'd argue the other 34 matches ultimately relegated us too.

True but we were ina position where 4-6 points from our last 4 games would guarantee us survival. That's half what's available and 2 f these we're at home to mid table playing for pride teams (and we lost both)

I get your point but I don't think any team these days play for pride. Manager and owners make it clear to the players the financial benefits of finishing even one place higher in the league. Players also have goal/win bonuses in their contracts, offering a further incentive.

Newcastle were very professional and deserved their win.

Whilst it won’t have improved the chances, don’t dismiss that yet

If Kompany came in, he’d be able to loan more players wouldn’t he from the likes of City that he would if we were still in the PL. I’m hopeful.

Yeah allowed 4 loans from one club I believe. From what I hear this shouldn’t be ruled out yet.

Still sounds like Kompany is thinking about it

I think in terms of contacts and profile, we could do a lot worse

I've heard from someone who works at the club that Kompany is a done deal. Probably boll0cks though, they've talked a load of rubbish before

Based on what information?

I saw that Anderlecht played Sunday but missed out on a champions league qualification place, so have to go through Europa league qualifying. Wonder if that factors in to his decision making. Personally can’t see it, but then it does fit with Pace’s ambitious approach.

Playing three at the back (even worse with Long central) against a lone striker and two wide men with pace ?

As for the rest of the team, it was huff and puff in central mid and nobody clinical enough up front

But, at least he realised it was wrong at HT and changed things - Dyche would have waited till 80+ mins

Going to be tough to "sell" BFC to any decent manager now
In the second half, Jackson could have played Collins at centre half and Roberts at right back, but preferred Long at centre half and Collins at right back. It's a strange choice.

If Kompany has genuine ambitions to be a PL manager then a ‘first step’ in the Championship would make sense. He knows we have a great training ground and a good youth set up and I’m sure he’s confident he can attract some of the best young players in the North West.

We will definitely be a Championship top 6 club next year which comes with all the excitement of promotion or the play off knock out competition (including a possible Wembley experience).

So yes, come on and join us Vincent you won’t regret it.

My thoughts exactly on the day. Thought Roberts must have picked up a knock, as surely you’d want him bombing forward rather than Collins (not withstanding his contribution to the goal!).

I think it would be a great opportunity for him and he was very happy living in the Manchester area. I would be delighted if he joins us.

Possibly trying to keep the big lads on for set pieces. Pretty sure Newcastles record isn’t the best at defending these and they had a weakened back line/Tripps (who isn’t the biggest) so maybe they thought that was a likely source of a goal?

I think the appointment, when it happens, will give a more accurate reflection on the current state of the club than the goonish ramblings on offer here.

Appointing whichever of the usual chancers is available from the normal parade of hopefuls, followed by a fire sale of anything that isn't tied down is only likely to lead in one direction.

The likes of Kompany would suggest we're still looking upwards and intending to retain a competitive squad.

I'll need to see it first though.

Its a real difficult one as we know now what's at the end of the rainbow - like Norwich - a league we cant compete in financially and as a town club I understand that. Plenty of managers "torn up" the championship SD, Wilder, Wagner, Parker twice, Holloway, Eddie, Farke WITH attractive plenty of goals football but then the gulf appears and some managers played the same way in the Premier League like Parker and Holloway but did not have the extra quality in areas to survive. Some managers like SD and to a degree Wilder (although Sheff Utd did have a good old spend) played similar and played to the strength of their team/squad. Ultimately for all it ended in relegation and next season Fulham, Bournemouth, Forest and Huddersfield all play wide open football and like Leeds they may done enough to survive or they might find they leak too many goals playing expansive football (like Norwich).

Its a delicate balance.

I got the impression that he was worried about ASM vs Roberts.

In some ways, I think the Championship gives us a bit more scope to get a young hungry new manager. We won't be able to attract the same profile as before, but we also won't be laughed at for giving someone their first taste of premier league action.

They could have a real go next season. Borrow more money, get back into the PL, sell the club at a profit - the owners are happy. Borrow more money, fail to get back into the PL, club goes bust or plummets down the leagues - the owners are no worse off than they are now.

I don't think the debts and cash shortages will have a big effect next season. I reckon they will hope for the best, spend freely, and kick the can a year down the road.

I don’t think that’ll be his strategy as failure would ruin his reputation and thus cut off his supply for any future investment.

Really hope it’s not Kompany, stinks of more Pace ‘optics’ razzmatazz over pragmatic substance.

Third in a two horse race and the guy is just bizarre.

His team talks are weird - players won’t respond to it, see below for yourself

True, but given our longstanding midfield weakness and likely transfers out this summer, I reckon we'd be better taking De Bruyne, Foden, Stirling and Dias off their hands instead

A first signing for Kompany can be Adnan Januzaj, just released from Real Sociedad and in the need of a career revival. Still only 27. Yes getting ahead of myself.

That’d be a belting signing. Just what we need (if he’s as decent as he was at United).

Really hope it’s not Kompany, stinks of more Pace ‘optics’ razzmatazz over pragmatic substance.

Third in a two horse race and the guy is just bizarre.

His team talks are weird - players won’t respond to it, see below for yourself

Farke for me- two promotions and plays an entertaining brand & he’s available
I quite like the approach to be honest - he clearly played for the camera there too.

I too had an inside giggle at that when I watched it... the full version is much more insightful too... especially if he brings in Bellamy
