I'm not saying I have inside info but chips and mayonnaise have been added to the catering menus in the concourses for next season.

Not too displeased about Kompoany.
Not too sure about his backroom staff though. Belgian press mentioning the fact that his staff (consistently of two very good friends of his) was the cause of the end of his time at Anderlecht.
He needs Burnley people in his team !

Rumours in the Dutch & Belgian media are that he’s bringing his back staff and midfielder Josh Cullen with him.

Cullen is instrumental to his system, he plays the holding midfield role. Would be a very good signing.

Get the impression he’s not very highly rated at Anderlecht. It’ll be an interesting appointment, but high risk…

Happy with Cullen joining. One of my concerns with Kompany is we don’t have a cm that suits his style. At least we know this lad knows his set up inside out

Think Cullen - Brownhill would be the one. Brownhill allowed to be more dynamic, which suits him. The two wide players are then more technical and that’s where I think we need the big signings (could be McAtee / Palmer loans from city for example).

Purely just me speculating but I could see us lining up something like:
BPF
Roberts, Collins, Mee, Taylor
Cullen
Wallace, McNeil, Gudmundsson
Weghorst, Palmer
Obviously dependant on who stays and who comes in.

Been told by someone connected with Man City's Academy that it's 99.9% certain, with Defour coming as a coach.

Think that’s already been dismissed as Defour has committed to a club?

McAtee maybe, but I can't see Pep letting Palmer out. He's far too good, and has a real chance of getting games this season at city

If we are still persisting with Gudmundsson, I’ll be disappointed. From the bench at a push but I want better if at all possible. Ideally some real pace.

He was excellent for Bradford in league 1. Their fans were loved having him and had hoped to get him back on loan. Not sure what he is like now.
I’d have thought Jack Cork would be perfect for dropping into CB role, he can tackle and head as well as moving a ball on.

Agree cork would do it well. But can he do a 46 game champ season? Probably not. Also I’ve read that Cullen’s passing range is quite extensive so he can spray it around a bit, key for the system, whereas Cork is more short, fast passes (still be very useful don’t get me wrong).

If all of the above transpires, we need to see far, far more of what Brownhill is about - if he doesn’t massively increase his output in terms of goals and assists, it’s another position that needs looking at.
He should hopefully show a lot more next season.

As long as we still know how to defend. One of the criticisms of Kompany's current side is they look a lot better going forward than they do defending.

Attack is the best form defence they say, and we should be imposing ourselves on other teams, big difference between the Championship and the PL regarding quality, so let's take the positive approach and go out and win games.

Hi Pickles,
In this formation (442) McNeil would be the other CM but given the freedom to get forward. The wingers then come narrow to allow the full backs to get forward.
Pretty similar to how Kompany operated at Anderlecht.
DCwat Tbh I put Gudmundsson because he’s one of the only wingers on the books. But replace with a new signing that’s how I think we line up

I've said for a while - moreso when Dyche was with us - that if we kept the players with a defensive mindset ingrained by Dyche, but the attacking influence of a new manager, we may have the best of both worlds. It seemed to be the case with Jackson's first 3/4 games, although the pasting by Villa shifted the thinking and it fell apart again.
The longer this drags out, the less exciting it gets. Natural I suppose, especially with Kompany not having any reputation as a manager.

It does remind me of what happened with the Ostrich deal.

I think you will disappointed if you have hopes of Cole Palmer coming here, there's surely absolutely no chance of that, he scored in the UCL last season.

Tbh I doubt he will come. More just a player I like that I think would fit the system. Swap him out for someone else I think that’s how we will line up.

Fair enough, I think he would do well especially at Championship level. He’s one of the only players we have that can retain the ball in the centre of the pitch

Can't tackle, can't track back, can't mark, doesn't have the stamina to be in a midfield two. A three, maybe. Anyway, fair enough. Looking forward to what Kompany does with him.

I believe last season Mcneil made the most tackles and covered the most ground of our entire midfield

If so, absolutely fair play! Perhaps says a bit about Cork, Brownhill and Westwood but fair play!
