Well all this talk of “freedom” in the last fortnight suggests otherwise.
Have we got William Wallace in charge now haha

I can't say I was impressed with Kompany in the video but I switched it off after 2 minutes.

I still maintain we need the best coach we can find. Who will improve coaching standards through the club.

Not been linked before so that’s a new one. A few posters included myself suggested him very much early on in this thread. Done a cracking job there - was Bielsa’s assistant at Leeds.

Didn’t realise he was at Leeds with Bielsa. As you say done a great job with Huddersfield.

If we stay up and Hudds stay down then I'd be really excited if Corberan took the job. He's done a brilliant job there and has built a squad on absolutely nothing but Bosmans and loans, and they're playing some good stuff near the top of the league.

I don't know and haven't heard anything one way or another but I would have thought S D would have been the opposite of that with plenty of interaction and players having their say rather than all sat there with their heads down.
Cornet mentioned the players are no longer afraid to make mistakes, they just keep trying to play. I think it was Cornet who also mentioned there has been better communication between staff and players. Am I right in saying Dyche didn't turn up to some training sessions?

Funny innit. Many on here were saying that Dyche was way too loyal and too close to the players, and that they needed a proper kick up the arse. Show them a shouty vid of Kompany and all of a sudden he (Kompany) isn't good enough for us.

Good article in the Daily Mail today about Jackson and players communication etc. Gives quite a good insight to the recent changes.

Weren’t most saying the exact opposite? He was loyal only in the sense of team selection - main issues appear to be players were too restricted and the old school kick up the arse approach that was allegedly readily being imposed by Woan and Stone was getting players’ backs up?

Fwiw it’s worth, editing can be v powerful and I wouldn’t mind Kompany as manager.

Someone who I don't believe has been mentioned yet is Leam Richardson who's just led Wigan to the League 1 title, he ticks a lot of boxes young upcoming manager, and he's more than familiar with the north west, the only downsides are his previous Rovers connections, and the fact he was born in Leeds, both those may not go down well with some of our support.

Athletic reporting that both Kompany and Knutsen are on our manager shortlist. First proper link I’ve seen to Knutsen.

Only managing in League one is another, more obvious, downside.

Yes and someone like LR would be more likely to come if we're in the Championship next season, but he's certainly one of the up and coming managers to keep an eye on.

Hearing that there might be a short list of three including the two you mention and one current FL manager but unlikely to be Rooney.

They will struggle to find a manager anywhere near as good as Mowbray. He has done an excellent job in the circumstances. Yes they ran out of steam but that was hardly a surprise given the resources at their disposal

Interesting. I think they are very dependant on if we stay up, though. No chance Kompany is attracted to the Champ and arguably the same with Knutsen. FL manager that fits a similar profile could be Corberan at Hudd but that’s just a guess.

He's been an outstanding manager over a number of years. I've never met him but I'm told he's an outstanding man too. Interestingly, he was contacted by Sean Dyche last week. Mowbray said: "I had Sean Dyche on the phone the other day. What a brilliant human being he is, by the way. I know he's a rival from here but what a great human being. I've known him a long time."

Mowbray's sides seem to regularly run out of steam from Feb/ March onwards after a really good start.

It happened a couple of times at Middlesbrough, and once at Coventry in League 1 I think. Add Blackburn this season to the list now too.

Overall he's been an excellent appointment for them no doubt, but I wouldn't be confident if he were in charge of Burnley that we'd see the job through.

This is a great twitter thread on Knutsen’s achievements and playing style at Bodo Glimt, for those interested. Seems he’s always worked there with a director of football and closely with a head of youth development.

Very long with some bookmakers and very short with others ( out of nowhere). Not sure that can be far down the line though with Hudds in play offs.

Would be pleased with Corberan. Seen a bit of Huddersfield this season and they play some lovely stuff. They don't quite have the players to play some of the tippy tappy stuff they like to play, and they definitely need more of a focal point up front. But it's dynamic, I've seen them play various formations, and seems to have an eye for a player on the cheap. Town fans love him. As mentioned - Bielsa's assistant at Leeds. Young family, based in Yorkshire, wouldn't have to move.

The only mention of a manager is with Kompany and it is reporting he isn't interested in the Burnley job.

I've seen a report where Mike Jackson gives a lot of credit to Ben Mee and Ashley Westwood. It's great what the interim coaching staff are achieving with the team. Long term the club needs an experienced manager/coach. Great that senior, injured players are assisting, but if they are fit that would be harder for them to do and they'd be needed in the playing squad.

Nothing against Wilder, he does what it says on the tin, but we need someone who can take the club forward. I can't imagine how Wilder can do that in anyway.
