Lost Grounds Since 1986
How many of these grounds have people been to? I only managed 9 unfortunately, but I’d imagine a few of you will be well into the 20’s or 30’s…

21 - Remains mostly Premier League grounds I haven’t visited, maybe 22 (did I see Maidstone?). As you say age is an advantage… some of those were regular haunts for years.

35 for me, but I am getting on a bit.
Re: Lost Grounds Since 1986
I would have thought Bournemouth should be on the list ... Spurs new ground is sort of a redevelopment isn't it like The Cherries

I don't think the map is supposed to be comprehensive, it refers to " a selection ".
For example, Northampton's County Ground isn't there.

Agree. Also there are quite a few grounds in the South there that were never in the Professional Leagues, so you could include Colne Dynamos, Rossendale Dark Lane etc. etc.lakedistrictclaret wrote: ↑Mon Apr 11, 2022 9:36 pmI don't think the map is supposed to be comprehensive, it refers to " a selection ".

Dark Lane - Rossendale United. Oops but I once saw Roy Keane and his Man U team play there.

28 for me, but as another poster said grounds such as the the County Ground, Northampton Town FC aren't listed.
Re: Lost Grounds Since 1986
Roughly 31 - I may have miscounted.
I've been to Enfield/Southbury but I don't think Burnley have played there have they?
I went to Kettering for a friendly to mark the opening of their new stand. 2-2 it was.

Third programme down.
This is THE season for me!

Re: Lost Grounds Since 1986
I would argue Spurs is a completely new ground as it was moved a considerable distance and completely rebuilt.
I suppose though you could argue the same for Molineux but I think that was done over a few years in the 1980s and simply moved the ground sideways.

Re: Lost Grounds Since 1986
I just noticed the attendance at Maine Road/Charity Shield.
On the CM link it was 23,988 but on your UTC link it's 10,589. 23,988 is more like it I would think.

Spurs, Bournemouth & Wembley are all new grounds. Wolves definitely isn’t.Hipper wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 9:02 amI would argue Spurs is a completely new ground as it was moved a considerable distance and completely rebuilt.

Re: Lost Grounds Since 1986
Definitely 18, probably 19 (if the Dartford ground is where Maidstone also played for a while).
Coincidentally I drove past the the site of the McCain Stadium yesterday.

Re: Lost Grounds Since 1986
Didn't they alter the orientation by 90 degrees Tony ... as in Spurs as its partially on the same footprint so is a New Ground just like Spurs ... Pedantic I know butClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 11:38 amBournemouth demolished their ground, played somewhere else while the new one was built which is just partially on the same footprint. Bournemouth consider it to be a new ground.

The new Bournemouth ground is at 90 degrees to the old one. Both are partially on the old footprint but both are new grounds.

Re: Lost Grounds Since 1986
I can add Hayes to my list - I used to live right behind their ground but the opposite end to the entrances so never troubled with crowds. They were close to promotion from the Conference the first year i moved there (1999) but tailed off at the end of the season. They merged with Yeading a few years later and moved out of their ground, which unsurprisingly was sold for housing.
Re: Lost Grounds Since 1986
26 for me just counted them. Not sure about the Telford United one though? New Bucks Head? It’s only because they built three new stands a few years after beating us in the FA Cup. It is still in exactly the same place!

Very definitely the same ground we lost on - not as though I needed or wanted a reminder of that horrible day

Just the 12 here.
Some real fond memories, though, in particular the late 2-1 win at Oxford.
