They never learn.
They've been buying players for the last 6 years, who's best days are behind them.
Sanchez
Fred
Mata
Cavani
Ibrahimovic
Matić

Now Arnautovic

They should be scouting these talents when they're young and improving, not when their best days are behind them. The recruitment at OT has been woeful, but with the Glazers in charge it isn't going to change
Ibrahimovic is a freak of nature who was still one of their better players.
Cavani they were too self conscious about and never played to him properly.
Fred is a very underrated player often forced out of his natural role.
Otherwise I'd agree.
United simply aren't as good as they think. Look at their history, they had two periods of success coinciding with two managers. The English league is quite different to the continental leagues in that a team's dominance is usually defined by a manager - Spain, France, Italy, Germany have all had a small handful of heavyweights regardless of coach, England the top team usually correlates with a specific handful of managers.
United are past their prime and back in the interim years between Busby and Ferguson. It will be a while until they're the force they once were, and they should be absolutely kicking themselves for sacking Mourinho. As much stick as he gets for his style he is a rare example of a truly elite manager. He's better than Klopp or Guardiola.
