Interesting that the skipper has bought into the temporary set up.
How will he set about changing things ?

Yeah, the contract renewal situation for some of the players is almost certainly going to be a factortiger76 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 12:05 pmThat could be a factor, as could the contract renewals for some of the older players, it has seemed apparent for some time now that Dyche and Pace share differing visions over the future direction of the club.
I'm shocked but this might allow us to finally pursue a new path, and start developing youth, because as great as Sean has been for the club the past 2 years have been a slog with little excitement, and a change was needed sooner or later.
Course, the board and the manager could have sat down to talk about what we'd need to do with the club in the event of relegation, and the money/signings that SD wanted might well have been completely different to the money/signings that the board were prepared to sanction
We just don't know, but something has changed

Re: Big news coming soon from the Turf (Sean Dyche sacked)
I am confused, upset and angry about this. It just doesn’t make sense.
We lose…
The best manager that most fans have had in their lifetime.
The manager that has created an ethos and culture that very few managers are capable of doing.
A manager who has lost just ten games in his last ninety-two Championship games.
A manager with several years of contract remaining and therefore a huge cost to pay-off
A manager who put the club’s future ahead of player purchases, by developing Barnfield.
A manager who understood the town and its townsfolk.
A person who promoted our town and club with such positivity.
A person that got us!
We’ve gained…
Thanks Sean. An incredible effort!!!

Re: Big news coming soon from the Turf (Sean Dyche sacked)
I’d have hoped that the signing of a four year contract included discussions about how we would deal with and move forward from relegation. After all, Pace himself has stated that plans were in place for relegation.

Re: Big news coming soon from the Turf (Sean Dyche sacked)
Spent the week with covid-19. Let my ticket go for West Ham on Sunday. Heard the news on R4 news. Earlier I was reading The Times. They have an article on last time Chelsea and Palace met in the cup. Surprised to learn that Ian Britton was in Chelsea team that game in Feb 1976.
Yes, I'm surprised. Thanks for the memories, Sean Dyche.
"Sacked" tells us we don't really know what is going on behind the scenes. For success, the players, the manager and the owners all need to be aligned. We know from our league position and results that we haven't been successful.
Senior players will be well aware of their relegation clauses. Maybe that is a factor in the performances/results and the background to today's news.
Not the "exciting times" I expected or wanted.
Let's see what comes next.

The sense jd is that we’re a club like the ship carrying the ancient mariner, adrift and rudderless.
Yes SD has been an enormous asset to the club but there is a time and a place for everything
And it was now or the end of the season.
This gives both parties time to sort things out for next season.

Would love to know those plans right about now, probably scribbled on a post it.
I’d also love to know how much it has ‘cost’ Alan Pace to sack Sean Dyche considering the contract he gave him. Presumably nothing of his own money seen as his current account probably has less in than mine.

Been waiting on this for a while now. Just thought it would happen.
Thanks Sean for everything sincerely but the football has been terrible/ bordering on embarrassing for a long time now (bar a few performances)

We are only where we are because of Dyche, and yes I believe we had a chance of staying up,now that chance has definately evaporated,no other manager will get more out of these players.
We need new players not a new manager. Now I fear us and Dyche will be moving in opposite directions.

Anyone welcoming this news - or thinks Pace has a plan - is going to look absolutely ridiculous 18 months from now, that's for sure. Hoofball in the bottom three will seem a golden age compared to where we're heading from here on.

Hate to break it to you, Dyche was a major factor in this side currently being shite and absolutely doomed to relegation, without a doubt, doomed.HahaYeah wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 12:21 pmWe are only where we are because of Dyche, and yes I believe we had a chance of staying up,now that chance has definately evaporated,no other manager will get more out of these players.

As for no other manager will get more from these players, the bar is set really low aint it? can it really get worse results wise in the final 8 games?
There's no doubting Dyche's past and previous achievements, we've been absolutely garbage for 2 years though in a results driven business and to make things worse, we've played diabolical football.

Re: Big news coming soon from the Turf (Sean Dyche sacked)
The most Stupid of stupidest decisions in the history of BFC!! Time to face reality as a Burnley fan that unless a major influx of cash we can kiss goodbye to premiership football and resign ourselves to low to mid table championship. No other manager could get performances out of that squad, he actually did “polish the turd”

Alastair Campbell has spoken to Sean. From twatter:
'Have spoken to Sean +
Woany to say thanks for everything. Both v philosophical about what has happened. They’ll be a very hard act to follow but both want the club to survive, thrive and succeed. As Woany said ‘special place, special club, fans have always been brilliant’ 4/4'

Re: Big news coming soon from the Turf (Sean Dyche sacked)
How bad was it going to get with Dyche though? I look at the squad he's built and I'm not even sure half of this lot he's kept around are good enough for the League below. This current squad with Dyche would be a mile away from top of the league below imo, can't even carve out chances from open play.NottsClaret wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 12:24 pmAnyone welcoming this news - or thinks Pace has a plan - is going to look absolutely ridiculous 18 months from now, that's for sure. I don't think I agree with that.Steddyman wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 11:45 am...
My view is ALK have accepted we are going down and are now preparing for next season. They bought the club to identifyi young talent, blood them in the top flight, then sell them at profit. Sean has probably been resistent to this approach all along. The U23's will be piviitol to our success in the Championship and longer term.
Didn't we bring in somebody shortly after ALK came in whose job was succession planning? I am sure we are already a long way down the road to appointing a replacement or we wouldn't have sacked him ahead of Sunday. And no, it won't be BFS since he doesn't fit their requirements either.
Firstly if Sean wasn't on board with their long term view you would think that would have come out much earlier than 8 games before the end of the season.
Secondly if you have succession planning you don't sack the manager and all the coaching staff without having someone ready to take over (perhaps they do but I would expect there to be some rumours on who that appointment is and expect an announcement v soon.
Third if this was an "accepting relegation start of the rebuild" then you sack him after the next game or announce a likely parting of the ways to allow a "goodbye"
Nope this has "oh ****" written all over it and I wouldn't be surprised that they let him run coaching all week as they had noone else to manage it Nd then potted him once that's been done for the week.
It reminds me of how Coloroll sacked all their sales folks when they went bust - called a big meeting in Birmingham, asked for all the car keys back and gave people train tickets home

as for what comes next - one scenario I have is that the previous administration will be back in control by late July, VSL will still have a sizable shareholding just not necessarily enough to be in control - the first trigger for that has already been actioned in the last 10 days or so (and no I cannot relay to you what that is), there is a sequence of other events that have to occur for it to pan out but we are past the starting post.
It comes down to a lack of money (or at least an unwillingness to spend monies that they must surely have accumulated for themselves in their careers) - for now excepting the very strange timing of this announcement, the greatest failing ALK and their friends have made is delivering on the fundamental essential of their plan which is finding additional investors - and that is likely to be down to the fact that the market believes they have overpaid in the first place. The on field struggles since takeover will have not helped to change that view

I for one am happy that Alan Pace doesn't have the attitude of some on here that "championship is where we belong" and has tried to do something to retain our premier league status. It might backfire, it might not but certainly by not doing anything we were going down under Dyche.

Thank you Sean you've done amazing for this club.
There was never going to be a right time to sack him, however I'd rather it end like this, then when he returns he will be applauded and thanked correctly.
If it ends after a drubbing v Newcastle, we are relegated, they're booed off, he's given a tough time etc
That's a sour end, this is clean and removes all that, and a chance to thank him when tensions and emotions are removed.
However this is Burnley Fc, not Dyche Fc.
Time for us to stand by the Clubs decision, support the new man and for us all to start pulling in the right and same direction, something that clearly wasn't happening recently.

Now is and never will be the right time. December or at the end of the season/confirmation of relegation was the time to do it.
Timing of the sacking???
Sacking Billy Mercer???
This board know nothing. They know nothing about football and I’m seriously wondering if they know anything about business.
Not only should Sean’s name be sung loud so should they sack the board chant.
I suppose the years of laughing at BollEwood are coming home to roost.

Re: Big news coming soon from the Turf (Sean Dyche sacked)
Two moments of truth for me.Firstly when the team got on the coach to go home, having beaten Fulham having relegated them. The team got absolutely legless and the team and manager must have felt that the team could never get relegated. How many post match comments, even recently ,has SD said we have of course been there before and the team have enough PL experience to climb the table. Secondly when we failed to get Orsic, we had over a week to improve midfield(which in a window is an eternity), and we got absolutely no one in an area of our play when even a blind man knew we were not up to PL standard . In the meantime spending only 45% of the money received from Wood. This is the sign of a team prepared to be relegated.
I suspect SD and AP may have come to an arrangement. By going now when we get relegated the media cannot put the blame entirely on SD, and it will not appear on his CV. Comments will be why we took such a drastic decision on a manager that kept us in the PL for 7 years with virtually no funding, when maybe he could have kept us up
