The Sun rumours today
Lot of lazy journalism by the looks of it but Nixon has gone with the below:
Burnley are looking for a new super scout and have hired a top headhunting firm to find him.
Fulham looking at Dean Henderson but would like Pope on a cash deal.
Bardsley to Derby in the extremely unlikely event they stay up. (Corrected)
Dyche on the wanted list for West Brom and Stoke

Stoke or West Brom the exact two clubs I’d think Dyche would suit / his level to go to

What’s the deal with the payout if he now walks into another job does he still get it?

He can if there is a club who wants him, or he can take another job that will lead him back into the PL and he's then back in a Prem job.
Either way he will end up in the PL, probably to the disappointment of some on here.

Both would struggle to fund Dyche with transfers - particularly if the changes the EFL are looking to implement on financial regulation somehow squeeze through - and both would find it difficult to replace current managers immediately if they squeeze up via the playoffs

I’m not sure a lot of fans remember that SD did not come in and wave a magic wand. Burnley gave him the time he needed, it was part of the reason the bond grew so strong so quickly; would another club, possibly now given SD’s subsequent record with Burnley, but its not a given.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 12:18 pmHe can if there is a club who wants him, or he can take another job that will lead him back into the PL and he's then back in a Prem job.

He got promoted in his first full season. He was pretty much an immediate success and needed only one summer to get things amazingly right.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 12:23 pmI’m not sure a lot of fans remember that SD did not come in and wave a magic wand. I also think Rooney is unlikely, but not impossible this week; I (along with football in general) was reasonably confident Derby would be relegated on Friday, they once again defied the odds, which I think means Rooney stays at Derby until they ARE potted.

I said straight away that Dyche would replace Bruce at West Brom

Re: The Sun rumours today
We needed a reasonable amount of work however Howe had already had a good clear out and left good foundations, but in all fairness Dyche got us promoted in his first full season after spending basically naff all and then we bounced straight back up at the first attempt.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 12:23 pmI’m not sure a lot of fans remember that SD did not come in and wave a magic wand. A club like WBA doesn't need as much work as we did when he took over here.

He needed literally one pre season to get it right. Pretty much waved a magic wand I would say given the inept performances at Palace and Cardiff before he started. He’s been waving the magic wand ever since pretty much given the discrepancy in finances against the teams he has competed with.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 12:23 pmI’m not sure a lot of fans remember that SD did not come in and wave a magic wand. Re: The Sun rumours today
I don't think there's much in it.
The owners at both clubs have deep pockets, they'd probably both be willing to dip into them to support Dyche.
Re: The Sun rumours today
I think Bruce's contract is only till the end of the season, West Brom is closer to Northampton and i would
say have a better chance of promotion than Stoke ..

If you look at the accounts we spent over £3m that first promotion year on signings, most of it over the summer - as I have said quite a bit lately there are other costs besides transfer fees and sometimes they surprise you - I know this did for me when I was researching something else last week.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 12:34 pmWe needed a reasonable amount of work however Howe had already had a good clear out and left good foundations, but in all fairness Dyche got us promoted in his first full season after spending basically naff all and then we bounced straight back up at the first attempt.

I know we signed Barnes for £400k and there were agents/signing on fees for the lads we signed as free agents in the summer.

Re: The Sun rumours today
depends on the terms - there is press speculation that they are entitled to one years wagesSuperjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 12:12 pmWhat’s the deal with the payout if he now walks into another job does he still get it?
It used to be that all the contract had to be paid up either immediately or over the life of the contract, canny clubs starting opting for the latter as they were allowed to deduct any new job income from that payment (think Joe Hart joining Burnley from Man City).
More recently after clubs like Chelsea have had to pay out monies approaching £100m down the years (Conte won multiple court cases against them) clubs have started negotiating for a shorter term but guaranteed sum - hence the 1 year story
It must be remembered that the severance negotiations are not just about Dyche, the back room team will be getting similar terms pro rata - in the same way they got the new contracts with Dyche.

Re: The Sun rumours today
but if you sign a contract to do a job, which incorporates a restriction on the freedom of movement, find the circumstances you are working in change through no fault of your own and additional constraints are added - then it can be seen as reasonable to expect the contract to be honoured. Dyche has Premier League terms, many others in football do not and the number of mangers who only get 1 or 2 chances is very high.Superjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 1:00 pmGood gig if you can get it £6m to fail in your job , must be up there with bank executives pay offs.
I suspect one of the key agenda items in the negotiations will be the relegation clauses in the contracts - assuming that they are still there in the new ones

Bank holiday weekend. All the sports journalists that aren't away on holiday were already allocated other responsibilities. Apart from us Burnley fans for most people "football club in relegation position fires manager" isn't a "big" story.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 1:02 pmI must say that the most astonishing thing in today's press is just how little there is about Friday's events and what led to them

Manager/coach contracts, just like all contracts will include terms that cover changes, whether these changes are introduced by new owners/board or the existing owners/board. That would be the case if there are "new constraints" or "new freedoms." Everyone, whoever they are, always has a "bigger boss."Chester Perry wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 1:07 pmbut if you sign a contract to do a job, which incorporates a restriction on the freedom of movement, find the circumstances you are working in change through no fault of your own and additional constraints are added - then it can be seen as reasonable to expect the contract to be honoured. My speculation is that Sean Dyche contract included a big bonus for retaining Premier League status and two levels of base pay. The higher level would apply to Premier League, the lower level, EFL. Bonuses would be determined by the position at the end of the season, regardless of whether manager was still employed at that time.

A chunk of that would be the fee for Kightley which was payable on promotion.
