Sport Club Freiburg

Post by MT03ALG » Tue Apr 19, 2022 10:20 pm

Sport Club Freiburg, a very similar club to Burnley F.C., is having a tremendous season. Tonight they reached their first German Cup Final and even have a chance of finishing fourth in the Bundesliga which would see them take part in the Champions' League. Unlike Burnley they have stuck with their Manager Christian Streich, who has been the first team manager since 2011 and at the club since 1995.

I don't think that Dyche would have been sacked if Burnley were 4th in the league.

We’ve stuck by Dyche for a long time and for the past 2 years the trajectory has been a downward spiral, he’s failed with a pathetic return recently and left our squad a complete shambles.

Best decision all round to punt him and we will see how he gets on in his next role. It would be funny if he failed and was sacked again.

But Burnley did stick with Dyche, a number of times. He was manager for nearly 10 years and pundits had only just got over the fact he wasn’t sacked after relegation in 2015.

Well yes, that’s the point. But how often and for how long was the point of our sticking by him crowbarred into any opinion piece or report on Burnley? We know it worked out for us and I think the majority of us recognised at the time it was the way to go.

Back to the op. Very happy Freiburg are doing so well. Having lived there for a while and been to see them play at their old ground, the Schwartzwaldstadion I always look for their results. They’ve now moved to a new stadium that holds 35,000. I guess there are similarities to Burnley but the places couldn’t be more different, Freiburg being a very affluent city of 200,000 or so. Chalk and cheese compared to deprived n.e. Lancs.

I think you have mistaken Dyche for Garlick.
