Re: Frightening
Why is it frightening?
If you can't control the vehicle, might as well do something else to pass the time.

Ridiculous not watching what’s going on around you on the road. Can’t see this turning out well. You can’t use a phone still though although there are plenty of idiots still doing it.

Re: Frightening
Having got a trial of the Full Self Drive functionality when I got my car, I am equally frightened by this as I wouldn't trust it.
That said they autonomy in the cars aren't there yet to really complete fully autonomous driving yet. Once its proven and all cars are that way, it probably makes sense.
Haven't read the full story but seeing the standard of driving in the local area, its the standard of driving by those who are supposedly in control of their car that also needs considering. Insurance policies to accommodate for this will be interesting in terms of impact on premiums.

I'm going to be in SF in December, so if this is available to use, I'm going to try it

Re: Frightening
ah yes - the psychology of driving and control. Everyone always thinks they are a better driver than they actually are.
Automated responses don't get distracted or tired. Or any of a number of other things that human drivers do. Loads of things are automated to greater or lesser extents and we accept it.

My car keeps me in lane and stops me bumping the one in front. Changes lane if I indicate. Euro law makes me have to tug the wheel slightly about every 15 secs, which is a pain. Car also auto parks in certain situations.
Driving is great. Much better breadth of vision (you can look around with confidence). Less tired too.
I used the park once. Frightened me to death! So quick, you think it can't get it right. It did of course!
FSD. Bring it on. Cost a few quid though!
